It consists of a 100 year old Victorian house with large comfortable rooms; a coach house converted into a quaint self catering unit full of character, and an additional self catering unit ideal for couple or small groups of friends.

Montagu is located on the famous Route 62 which provides a scenic alternative for travelers between Cape Town and the Garden Route.

Montagu is a peaceful town steeped in history and is renowned for its spectacular rock formations, fruit orchards, vineyards and healing hot springs. There are also attractive hiking trails, wonderful rock climbing sites and a nature garden.

Two museums reflect the history of the vicinity and a herb garden contains a large number of medicinal plants found in the area. Montagu is known for its muscadel wine and four wine cellars in and around the town produce an assortment of excellent wines.

The tractor ride to the top of the Langeberg outside the town is an unforgettable experience. The healthy, unpolluted, dry air makes for a much sought after climate.

The Koo Valley, known for its fresh and dried fruit, is situated near the town. Montagu is only two hours' drive from Cape Town and within easy reach of the coast.

The Cottage was converted from its former use many years ago as a coach house and it still boasts many of the original features such as the barn doors, parts of old cobble stone flooring and original stone walls. The cottage consists of a well equipped kitchen, dining area, lounge area, two separate twin bedrooms, joint bathroom with bath, shower, and w.c. It is the ultimate family sized accommodation. The cottage can accommodate up to 6 people with a double sofa bed situated in the lounge area. The lounge has SABC TV and a heater or fan is also supplied. It has its own private entrance overlooking the garden.

The Unit consists of kitchenette/lounge area with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dining table and chairs, sofa couch and SABC TV. All crockery, utensils and linen are supplied. One ensuite bedroom with a double and separate single bed, bath, shower, and w.c. It is ideal for couples, friends or small groups. The Unit can accommodate up to 4 people with a sofa bed situated in the lounge area, and the bathroom has a separate entrance independent from the bedroom. The Unit has two private entrances with car parking immediately outside.

One night stay but everything you needed for a comfortable stopover. Children were made to feel especially welcome by the owners Shirley and Paul. A quaint town with good restaurants.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here: Montagu is a friendly, relaxed and lovely place, and this guest house matches that well. Shirley and Paul are excellent hosts, and their descriptions of the local restaurants was good and accurate - with bookings of the chosen ones to make it even easier. The room was well presented and comfortable. All round excellent.
