Komati River Chalets

Description

Nestled on the confluence of the Komati and Crocodile Rivers, Komati River Chalets is perfectly placed for those wanting to explore the Southern Kruger National Park and Mpumalanga regions of South Africa. The lodge is situated on 12 acres of Komati river front wilderness, portraying a distinct feeling of wilds of Africa.

The famous Kruger National Park, Crocodile bridge gate is a mere five minute drive (12km) from the lodge and the sweet veld grasses of the South Eastern Kruger National Park ensure that this is arguably the best game viewing area of the entire park as vast herds of plains game and predators alike are attracted to the spoils of this pristine area. Both Mozambique and Swaziland are but a stone throw from the lodge providing the perfect base from which to explore both exotic destinations.

The lodge and the individual chalets are a mere fifty meters from the water’s edge, where pods of hippos and an array of spectacular bird life will entertain for hours on end. Try your luck at a spot of fishing for the mighty tiger fish, which inhabit these untamed waters.

The fourteen double or twin chalets and six family cottages are all tastefully decorated, comfortable and a distinct home away from home atmosphere pervades. The family cottages are perfect for families and each have two en suite bedrooms with a central lounge and kitchen, leading out onto a private patio, there is electric fencing and 24 hour security on the property.

All of the en suite rooms are air-conditioned providing welcome relief from the hot summer sun of the Southern Kruger region. The central facilities of bar, Calabash Bistro alacarte restaurant and pool area are surrounded by thickets of bushveld and lead out on to the acres of lush gardens creating a picturesque backdrop when dining or enjoying lazy days at the pool. The quaint town of Komatipoort is a minute’s drive away providing easy access to alternative restaurants, shops and the Kambaku golf course with spectacular views into the Kruger National Park.

Guided Kruger National Park safaris as well as day excursions to Mozambique and Swaziland are offered daily. Fishing safaris on Motorized boats are also available on request. The attention to detail and hand on management style of this family owned lodge ensure that Komati River Chalets is the ideal destination for the adventurous traveler.

A very well managed resort, friendly hospitable staff and a good place to center yourself and get back to grounding. A good example of how hospitality industries should be.

We booked in to the chalets for five nights and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ros was incredibly friendly and helpful with suggestions for all kinds of recreational activities and advice on our intended stay in Mozambique. The chalets were spotless and had all the necessary facilities. There was a couple of hippos and crocs at the bottom of our garden in the scenic and tranquil river and that added to the adventure. We also had close access to the Kruger National Park. A wonderful pl ... more

We enjoyed the stay. The only comment is that the wall separating the two chalets could be extended to provide more privacy. Not everyone likest to braai together. For the rest very nice
