Description

Kinasi is a small, private lodge that offers the highest standard of accommodation, cuisine and personalised service in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The fourteen guest rooms are landscaped into an old coconut and cashew plantation and overlook Chole Bay from a hillside on the south-east coast of Mafia, a perfect setting for sailing, swimming, diving, snorkeling and doing nothing.
Kinasi is an exotic home for its owners, so every feature from furniture design to fabrics, cuisine and activities for guests are based on one goal - to provide refinement and excellence in hospitality. The large stand-alone cottages have been designed for through-ventilation and coolness in all Seasons. The guest rooms and public areas are beautifully appointed. A complete refurbishment has resulted in our unique 'Shirazi Style:' created with antiques, designer furniture and exotic fabrics in a historic blend of Indian Ocean influences. All the rooms have king size beds with walk in mosquito nets. Each has an en-suite bathroom and covered verandah furnished with hammock, chairs & table, hanging space and shelves, desk & chair, bedside lights and reading lights and fans...everything you need.

Everything is taken care of with thought and experience and constant attention to details. Kinasi stands alone on the coast of Tanzania for its standards, facilities and consistency. A staff of 56 takes care of just 30 guests on a personal basis. Nothing has been left to chance. Every visitor will understand why some of our guests return again and again despite the many outstanding properties in the Indian Ocean. We are proud of a reputation that has been established by a local team of staff. This is your home and we make sure you know it and feel it.

An alfresco restaurant, pool bar and grill, a specialized cocktail bar, and cellar with over 1 500 bottles of fine wines all ensure that your palate is not ignored. Seafood barbecues and Swahili buffets provide the flavors of the Indian Ocean with a flair for originality that is exclusive to our chefs. You will find our menus and recipes nowhere else. Each day we individually arrange activities for our guests: Water Sports, picnic excursions by boat or road, cultural tours to villages and historic sites, nature walks and bird watching. Take to the tracks on the island with our mountain bikes...whatever you like. Relax on the beach doing absolutely nothing. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, board and outdoor games, an antique billiard - pool table, satellite television and video, slide shows in the evening an excellent library and music center.
