Lovely.

The campsite is right on the dam and has lovely green lawn. The staff was also exceptionally helpful. The visit to the crocodile farm and the boat ride on the lake is not to be missed.

Description

Kariba Bush Club is situated along the south-western shores of the beautiful Lake Kariba, Zambia. We are a small family orientated lodge, offering various forms of accommodation and activities. Accommodation includes private rooms, self-contained guesthouses, luxury tents, a private houseboat, a campsite and soon to come – a rustic bush-camp on one of our private islands. Spend your day relaxing by the pool sipping on something refreshing, lying in a hammock overlooking the Lake or wine and dine with loved ones in our lake-view restaurant that offers a selective menu (creamy pumpkin or tomato soup, roast chicken, succulent rump steak, impala burgers, kariba bream, crocodile curry, spinach pie, green bean fritters and a large variety of salads are a few of your options) or relax under the shady thatch of our well-stocked bar, all offering the same spectacular view of Lake Kariba - one of the largest man-made dams in the world that covers over 5000 square kilometres.

For the kids we have a jungle-gym and play area that will keep them busy for hours or for those sunny afternoons a slip-n-slide is placed out on the front lawn which guarantees them loads of fun! We also have lilos and noodles in our swimming pool for whoever may be interested! Another option for those who feel energetic is to play a round of volleyball on our flood-lit volleyball court filled with soft beach sand from an island nearby.

Participate in our activities that include sunset cruises (optional dinner on board), island walking safaris, canoeing safaris or perhaps a day out fishing (half or full day) for the infamous Tiger fish. A visit to us is definitely incomplete without a tour of the crocodile farm, one of the largest Nile croc farms in the world, less than one kilometre away.

With our 2 private islands just four kilometres off mainland shore boat cruises, fishing, canoeing, island walking safaris or a night out on the houseboat are all spectacular game-viewing experiences in themselves. The islands are stocked with an abundance of wildlife that include eland, kudu, sable, hartebeest, Defasa waterbuck, zebra, wildebeest, impala, reedbuck, bushbuck, duiker, warthog, bush-pig, hippo, crocodile and occasional elephants to name some, not to mention the large variety and abundance of birdlife that call Kariba their home.

Wildlife around the lodge includes impala, puku, bushbuck, duiker, hippo and our resident goat, Lucky! After breaking two legs and dislocating another he is lucky to be alive but after 3 months of intensive care and TLC he now manages to hobble along at a slow pace and is very content with life!

For those interested in local culture, we have a curio shop on site stocked with various arts and crafts all bought from and in support of the local community. The local market about two kilometres away also makes for an interesting place to visit; feel free to purchase local produce from the women that include rape (wild spinach), delele (okra), beans, kapenta (sardine-like fish), dried smoked fish (bream) or a freshly baked batch of buns or deep-fried fritters.

We at Kariba Bush Club welcome you all and guarantee that your stay will be nothing short of a pleasant and relaxing one.
