Kafunta River Lodge is set in riverside forest on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the South Luangwa National Park. Kafunta accommodation is of the highest standard in the Valley. This classic safari lodge offers every comfort, yet in a wilderness environment. The high standard of personalised service will provide attention to all details.
Our 8 private chalets are built on raised wooden platforms under a thatched roof. The mahogany floors and walls give a natural charm to the luxurious interiors, which are of unmatched standard. Central to the chalets is the spacious bar and dining area. Built around a large semi-evergreen wild mango tree and thatched in the traditional style, it offers panoramic views over the Luangwa River and South Luangwa National Park. Great game viewing and bird watching from the lodge is guaranteed.
Adjacent to the bar is our swimming pool and a natural hot spring tub with a constant temperature of 38 degrees. The lodge was built on a natural hot spring and it makes Kafunta the only lodge that offers this wonderful natural resource for our clients relaxation. There are also magnificent views from the pool area.
Kafunta River Lodge has its own pontoon only 5 minutes drive from the lodge. The adventurous crossing takes you into the more remote areas of the Park.
Alternatively, the main gate is 10 km (game driving) north of the lodge. Kafunta River Lodge is the ideal base to discover vast areas of the South Luangwa National Park and our high standard safaris will ensure an unmatched experience.
Kafunta River Lodge is open 12 months of the year.
Safari Activities
South Luangwa is an area of superb game viewing and our open 4x4 game vehicles are the ideal way to discover the National Park. We offer a wide range of game activities including game drives, night drives, walking safaris, bird watching tours and cultural tours, any of which can be combined at your request. All our activities are of the highest standard and are accompanied by an experienced and qualified safari guide.
