Kabula grows on you
This was our first Zambian and tiger fishing experience. We enjoyed it thoroughly, especially the days on the Zambezi and some successful fishing with grunting hippo's around us. The locals (west-Zambians) are friendly and not spoiled by too much tourism.
The lodge is well kept and visitors are well received by the friendly staff. Our guide and boatman - Freddy - proved to be up to the task of leading us to the catch. No electricity - but that is excellent if you want an African exper ... more

Description
Situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, Western Zambia Kabula Lodge has been specifically designed to provide affordable and truly comfortable holiday accommodation for families who love fishing, birding, the outdoors and who want to enjoy Africa at its pristine best. In keeping with the theme, the rustic and comfortable thatched chalets are built of local materials - wood, grass and reeds. Adding to the natural ambiance, each chalet has a beautiful wooden deck which overlooks the river. All with en-suitebathroom with shower. The fully grassed Kabula campsites, situated beneath huge indigenous trees, are without question the best on the river. These are serviced by clean and well designed ablutions that consist of rondavels, each containing a separate toilet and shower. The Lodge is located within Barotseland, the Lozi people’s mystical wetland region that the famous explorer David Livingstone explored so many years ago, Kabula Lodge provides the ideal holiday destination in a sparsely populated and relatively untouched region of Southern Africa where the magnificent indigenous forests are something to behold. The appeal of the Lodge has been further enhanced by its incorporation within the recently promulgated Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA) which is situated in the Okavango and Zambezi river basins where the borders of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe converge. It will span an area of approximately 287 132 km², almost the size of Italy (300 979 km²), and will include 36 national parks, game reserves, community conservancies and game management areas. This TFCA promises to be Southern Africa’s premier tourist destination with the largest contiguous population of the African elephant (approximately 250,000) in the continent.
