Description

The Lodge's name “Ingwenya” derives from the Zulu word for crocodile. It was quite logical to choose a name for our lodge indigenous to Zululand, in this first world heritage site of South Africa. Ingwenya Lodge is situated on the 'outskirts' of the residential area of St Lucia. The property borders the nature reserve with lovely views - a very unique privilege in St Lucia. The surroundings are very peaceful and hippos graze often at the entrance of the Lodge during the night. Small game frequently wanders on the premises and a rumor of a leopard in the area has been going around.

The self catering units are named after the five feede rivers of the St Lucia estuary: Mpate, Nyalazi, Hluhluwe, Mzinene, and Mkuze River and the Mfolozi that flows out to sea very close to the St Lucia estuary. Facilities includes a new swimming pool, air-conditioning in all rooms, Wi-Fi (wireless internet), additional freezing facilities, DStv (bring your own smart card), safe and a hiking trail that starts from premises. Units are serviced daily.

African Safari: Daily Safaris departing for either iSimangaliso or Hluhluwe/iMfolozi Game Reserves. Self drive also quite easily possible.

Family: Great Jungle Gym and trampoline. We have our own hiking trail from the premises.

Great Outdoors: St Lucia is a great Eco destination as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Outstanding Views: We offer the best views in St Lucia towards the ocean over the nature reserve.

Relaxation: Quiet location away from the city.

We had a great stay at Ingwenya Lodge. The unit we stayed in was lovely and the kitchen had everything we needed. Thank you to the friendly staff and we will stay there again for sure.

We stayed at the room with the kitchen downstairs and the bedroom upstairs. Downstairs was small, but okay. Upstairs was great and romantic, with a great view! Private parking and a friendly host!

We are teachers in South Korea. We only come home to South Africa once a year to visit our adult children. This year we decide to go to St. Lucia for one week. It was just awesome. We enjoyed the accommodation and all the information given to us by the helpful staff. The house was clean and well kept and they even came to clean on Sunday.
