Hippo Hollow Country Estate

Description

Hippo Hollow Country Estate is situated outside Hazyview on the Sabi River between the Drakensberg mountains to the west and the low-lying bushveld to the west. It is the ideal destination from which to access the reserves of the Lowveld and the sights of Mpumalanga. Hippo Hollows is ten minutes from the Kruger National Park and the panoramic route which includes Pilgrim's Rest, Graskop, Bourkes Luck Potholes, God's Window, the Blyde River Canyon, and the many fantastic waterfalls of the escarpment is close by.

Hippo Hollow Country Estate provides the ideal breakaway from the rigorous of city life.. The Lodge has an 'Out of Africa ' feel about it, and leaves you feeling totally relaxed and refreshed.

Hippo Hollow has an A La Carte Restaurant where you can enjoy fine cuisine accompanied by South African Wines selected from our wine cellar. Relax at one of the two beautifully positioned swimming pools set amongst lush gardens, or take a Helicopter Adventure, where you will swoop over deep and mysterious gorges, linger above roaring rivers and casading waterfalls and view the fascinating and dramatic rock formations of the Blyde River Canyon.

A range of activities such as a trip to Shangaan Cultural Village, white water rafting, quad biking, open vehicle safaris into the Kruger National Park, kloofing, abseiling and horse riding to mention but a few can be arranged by our friendly staff at reception.
Conference facility available.

Our December stay
Marianne Russell, South Africa
27 January 2012
The staff were very accommodating. The accommodation was clean, neat and tidy. However, the restaurant experience was not good. Dinner was cold and still frozen when it arrived at our table 45 minutes after ordering. But there are other restaurants in the area.

Our stay was very pleasant marred only by the weather on Xmas day and the Sunday at the end of our visit hence we left a day early.

Lovely setting with great staff. The evening menu was good and the food was superb. On our second night we sat in the restaurant and had the delight of watching a hippo on the lawn for about 40 minutes it was lovely. Would recommend to friends.
