At Zoutpan Struishuis Guest Farm you will experience the warm Afrikaner hospitality of Engela and Bertie Horn in their stylishly decorated Cape Dutch self-catering units.

Here you can participate in the normal farm activities, like the collection of ostrich eggs, milking of cows and feeding of orphaned lambs or horseriding. You will also find 1000 ostriches at any time on the farm, 180 birds of which will be breeding.

Although ostriches are generally thought of for primarily providing decorative feathers, Zoutpan Struishuis Guest Farm also provides leather and meat for the export market while there is also a demand for the eggshells for artistic purposes.

The leather is prized for its distinctive appearance, suppleness and durability, while the feathers are used in the fashion industry and in high-tech industries because of their ability to attract dust - this magnet-like attribute makes ostrich feathers a "must" in keeping computer rooms dust free, and in the automotive industry, preparing cars for the painting process.
