If you find yourself in a highly stressful environment and need to break away from it all, then you have to consider the charm and tranquility of Zoutpan Struishuis Guest Farm. Situated only 1 kilometre from the N2 on the Garden Route between Riversdale and Albertinia, this charming ostrich farm is the ideal halfway stopover between Cape Town and PE, with George Airport only 80 kilometre away. It also offers some of the finest examples of the unique collection of about 6 500 species of Cape fynbos (plants) that grow only on South Africa’s coast, and thatch reed that is another main source of income. Whether travelling on business or for pleasure our facility will suit your requirements.

At Zoutpan Struishuis Guest Farm you will experience the warm Afrikaner hospitality of Engela and Bertie Horn in their stylishly decorated Cape Dutch self-catering units. Here you can participate in the normal farm activities, like the collection of ostrich eggs, milking of cows and feeding of orphaned lambs or horse riding. You will also find 1000 ostriches at any time on the farm, 180 birds of which will be breeding. Although ostriches are generally thought of for primarily providing decorative feathers, Zoutpan Struishuis Guest Farm also provides leather and meat for the export market while there is also a demand for the eggshells for artistic purposes. The leather is prized for its distinctive appearance, suppleness and durability, while the feathers are used in the fashion industry and in high-tech industries because of their ability to attract dust - this magnet-like attribute makes ostrich feathers a "must" in keeping computer rooms dust free, and in the automotive industry, preparing cars for the painting process. If this is not to your liking, you can relax in the beautiful communal lounge and reading area, explore the area by enjoying walking trails in the fynbos area, do bird watching, or take scenic sundowner drives, watching the African Sunset while sipping on sundowners at the lovely rock-pool, enjoying a magical evening around an open log-fire.

Family: Kids can observe that milk does not come out of a carton and have the opportunity to milk a cow. See hens laying eggs and bottle-feed the lambs. They can also see the Arabian horses being groomed and ridden.

Very nice one-night stopover! Nice pool to cool off in after a long day in the car. Enjoyed observing the early morning farm duties (great for the kids). Warmly welcomed and accommodated.

Very comfortable beds, clean accommodation, enough blankets to fend off the cold! Engela is a wonderful hostess and looked after us well. A choice place to stop over during a long trip on the N2. Kids loved all the space to run and watching the farm animals.

We had a warm welcome from Erica who went out of her way to assist us with milk and info about the area. When we walked into the unit we immediately loved the quality of the unit - it was well worth the price we paid. The size of the unit, beautiful wooden kitchen with granite tops, heaters which were switched on prior to our arrival. We loved the fact that the units were named after some of the Israel tribes.
