Etango is an exclusive, private game reserve, nestled in the foot-hills of the magnificent Waterberg Mountain range in the heart of the African bushveld. Whether it is sheer enjoyment of the bushveld, game viewing by open vehicle, bush breakfasts, boma evenings, birding or a true african adventure that you seek, look no further.

Etango offers it all. Etango means Place where the sun shines. We offer you warm hospitality, a place to unwind and a chance to revel in the beauty and opulence of nature. Our resident Chef will make sure that you are never left hungry, offering traditional South African cuisine whilst our friendly personnel attend to your every need.

Etango also offers conferencing and team-building facilities. A total of 285 species of birds have been identified and over 38 species of Game use the reserve as their playground. Among the many species to be found are kudu, zebra, giraffe, blue wildebeest and even the elusive leopard.

Activities on offer at Etango include game walks, game drives, nature trails, bass fishing, bush barbecues, birding, bush breakfasts, tree identification, night drives, paintball and boma evenings. Activities in close proximity include: quad biking, horse safaris, the cheetah and wild dog breeding project, and much more. Etango is less than two hours' drive from OR Tambo International Airport, making this bushveld paradise readily accessible to both local and international guests.

The main lodge is set in the heart of the bushveld, overlooking a water hole and a broad expanse of bushveld encircled by the magnificent Waterberg mountain range. This inspiring and beautiful lodge blends in with the bushveld surroundings and is under thatch. Etango has ten en-suite chalets. Each chalet can accommodate up to four guests and boasts air-conditioning and M-Net. The stunning swimming pool has its own sundeck and a thatched bar area where you can laze away while sipping a drink of your choice under the african sun.

African Safari: Etango is situated on a game reserve and daily game drives and walking trails are available to all guests. Etango hosts up to 38 mammal species, including the rare Black Giraffe.

We spent two enjoyable days at Etango. The stay was made very special by game ranger Carina who was knowledgeable, service-minded and friendly. She even played with our children and answered all their questions regarding the animals and nature for hours on end. The food was OK and the room was nice and clean. A big plus that it only took about 3 hours to drive from Sandton and that the lodge is in a Malaria free area :-)

We had a fantastic time at Etango. In fact, we stayed two days longer than we originally planned. Our hosts Antionette and Clayton made us feel so welcome and at home. The food was excellent, the lodge homely and safe, the pool was warm and the staff friendly. We have made new friends and we are coming back here.

Our stay at Etango was just what we wanted, peace and quiet, the service was outstanding from Corme and WIllem as well as all the staff. Very attentive, nothing too much for them. The food was good, I thought the breakfasts could have had a bit more such as scones or croissants, but that is not important. However, the rest made up for it.
