Our stay was cut short due to unforseen circumstances, but the time spent at Eagles Rock was pleasant and a well earned break from the stressful city life that we lead. Would definitely return for a longer visit and make time to enjoy the comforts and relaxation that one needs to unwind, and that is what Eagles Rock most definitely provides.
As Arnold famously said " I WILL BE BACK ."

Description
SELF-CATERING, with the option of BED AND BREAKFAST We welcome you to Eagles’ Rock, our beautiful piece of God’s creation set in the magnificent Southern Drakensberg Mountains, near Underberg and Himeville. This pristine farming area is one of South Africa’s premier trout fishing destinations. Our Retreat is magnificently positioned on a mountain plateau overlooking the Umzimkulu River and lush farmlands. Being owner run ensures a very warm welcome, wonderful hospitality and an enjoyable holiday.
Gavin, a practising veterinarian and keen trout fisherman will gladly assist you in your quest for that elusive 10 pounder. We also have a rowing boat available on our stocked dam .
Honeymoon in Kestrel or Falcon cottage or bring the whole family and friends to Lammergeier log cabin or Sparrowhawk cottage. Each cottage is fully equipped with stove, microwave, fridge, crockery, cutlery and bedding. Deep-freeze available should you require extra space. Enjoy winter evenings before a cosy log fire.
Enjoy the tranquility of our private 25 acres of pure spring water and lovely views. Wander through the pine forest, scramble over the koppies, add to the check list of over 100 bird species or fly fish in our well stocked trout dam. For the more energetic there is river tubing, canoeing, mountain walks, horse riding, tennis, squash and golf available nearby. Spend a day hiking in the Natal Parks Board areas or enjoy going on a Rock Art excursion. We can even arrange a visit to a Vulture Restaurant should you so desire.
We are the ideal “getaway from it all” destination. (But for those who require to stay in touch we do have good cellphone reception
A highlight for most of our visitors is a trip up Sani Pass. 4 x 4 Trips can be arranged at R350-370 per person (children under ten half-price). Passports are required. This is a full day excursion into a world heritage site and you will visit a Basotu home in one of the villages in the Mountain Kingdom. Lunch and drinks may be enjoyed at the highest pub in Africa.
Honeymoon Couples: Falcon and Kestrel are delightful honeymoon chalets and without exception those who have spent their honeymoon at Eagles' Rock have thoroughly enjoyed their stay and many have returned again and again. Both chalets have magnificent views and are very private. They are fully equipped and serviced daily. A roaring log fire ensures a cosy stay in the Winter months. Honeymooners also enjoy the tranquility of our private 25 acres with trout dam, pure spring water and lovely views. A very warm welcome awaits them.
