Staying in a Daddy Long Legs Independent Traveller’s Hotel is like sleeping in an art gallery. Each of the thirteen uniquely designed rooms is a playful experience that is miles away from your average hotel stay. Poets, photographers, artists, musicians and designers interpret sterile hotel room décor with humour, imagination, energy and endless creativity. The communal bar / lounge area is the perfect spot to meet fellow travelers and visiting locals. Relax, order a drink and sit on the balcony to take in the vibrant atmosphere of Long Street; Cape Town’s creative and eccentric heart. And, at the end of the day, each Daddy Long Legs room offers good quality beds, cotton linen and a private shower and toilet. It all started from humble beginnings, one simple idea - offer travellers, spacious, creative, spotless and good value accommodation.

Obtaining all these goals together isn’t easy nor is it the norm in the travel industry. Then again our guests aren’t one to follow the beaten path. They are independent, creative, forward thinking travellers. We accommodate guests that don’t want to stay in another regular hotel room, in another regular city, or go on another regular holiday. Daddy Long Legs Boutique Hotel offers accommodation with a difference! Housed in a beautiful 4 storey Victorian (1903) building, this will be the place to stay when in Cape Town. Every room is a work of art. Different Cape Town artists, musicians and poets have been commissioned to do the rooms, so every room is wonderful and unique. Relax in the beautiful bar and reception area, with huge TV. All local and international sports events are shown on satellite. Sweet dreams. Breakfast at R45.00 per person.

RATES: (Valid 10 June 2010 – 12 July 2010) ZAR 1250.00 per room per night Minimum stay: 2 nights.

2 Reviews on Daddy Long Legs Art Hotel

I'm afraid the photos and write-ups of this establishment are somewhat deceiving in my view. Whilst a very novel concept, the hotel is cramped and the rooms are furnished very basically. The towels and linen that were provided were old and had holes in; the furniture and decorations were dirty (chairs/scatter cushions), and the mattress was old and worn out. One has to park in the street and I’m not convinced that it’s all that secure, and the noise levels from the street carried on during the night. The front desk managers weren’t knowledgeable about the area as one would have expected and couldn’t provide answers to basic inquiries.

The spot to be our stay was a mixture of fascination and appreciation. The artistic styles of the rooms in this Boutique Hotel are quite captivating. The rooms were fresh and clean. Everything worked to the favor of the establishment. Located right on Long Street, we had easy access to all the various restaurants and the awesome nightlife of Cape Town. The service was outstanding. I would definitely refer anyone looking for a getaway with a difference to visit Daddy Long Legs.

Every room is a work of art. Different Cape Town artists, musicians and poets have been commissioned to do the rooms, so every room is wonderful and unique. Do Not Disturb: A fantasy sound studio, stage and bedroom all rolled into one, with a clean retro feel that is somehow reminiscent of Disney movies and dolls houses. The Fresh room: Is the only Daddy Long Leg’s Room that was commissioned to a commercial product, Mentors. Yet, it still exudes the signature Daddy Long Legs sense of the unexpected, and, as an international brand known for its fresh take on things, the relationship just seemed right. Photo booth: With 3 240 images in this room, you will never tire of staring at the wall. The Photo Booth is about life; the whole grand, big thing that it is, how we see it and how it makes you feel as a part of it. The photos are a combination of nudes, portraits and pictures from Antony’s vast collection.

Every room is a work of art. Different Cape Town artists, musicians and poets have been commissioned to do the rooms, so every room is wonderful and unique! Stay in rooms such as Travel Dog: Frank loves his dog. His dog is called Nessbitt and he is the inspiration for room number 2 - Travel Dog. “The world would be a much better place if people could just take their dogs with them wherever they go,” says Frank, “when I go away I feel very traumatized by the thought of having to leave my dog behind. I fantasize about ways I could bring him with”. Far From Home: This is the space you need to be in. Close the blinds and you are in an uninterrupted Karoo wilderness. Endless miles of dust and barbed wire, taper off into distant koppies. Pop up the blind, and your endless Karoo-view is juxtaposed by an exotic green mosque tower and the spectacular site of Table Mountain, to create an unusual landscape that defies the picture postcard.
