Description
Set in a four-acre tropical garden, with a magnificent Drakensberg escarpment backdrop, Blue Cottages offers delightfully quaint accommodation in six individual cottages (including self catering and family options).
The main house comprises the original farm manager’s cottage built in 1948, by Captain Drury, on the pioneering Olifants River Estate.
The original lampposts imported especially by Drury from London, can still be seen on the road leading to Blue Cottages.
The main farmhouse is next to Monsoon Gallery & Mad Dogz Café, which is forms part of the Blue Cottages.
The stunning Blyde River Canyon route is nearby, as are opportunities for rafting, hiking and bird watching.
Romantic hot-air balloon rides. Game viewing drives, etc. can also be arranged on request. Kruger Park’s Phalaborwa and Orpen gates are an hour’s drive away.

Garden Double Cottage – sleeps 2
This cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway for 2!
Situated in a secluded part of the wonderful wooded garden, Garden Double has a private patio and garden, lounge, TV, fully equipped kitchenette and en-suite bathroom.
Weaver’s Nest Family Suite – sleeps 5
Situated in the original farmhouse, this lovely suite has two separate rooms, one with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds, sharing a bathroom. It also has a separate lounge with air conditioning, TV, and private patio.
Blue Crane Cottages – sleeps 6
These cottages are a delightful cluster of 2 cottages nestling under enormous trees and can sleep up to six people if requested (perfect for a family).
This cluster of cottages has a separate lounge with 1 sleeper couch. This unit has got a fully equipped kitchen for the guests who would prefer to self-catering with his own barbeque patio.
Blue Crane Cottage 1, with a double bed has its own separate bath/shower/toilet in the garden next to the Cottage. Blue Crane Cottage 2, with 2 single beds has its own en-suite bathroom.
Quail Cottages – sleeps 4
Quail Cottages are two lovely cottages, Quail Cottage 2 with 2 single beds and an en-suite bathroom and Quail Cottage 1 with a double bed, and its own separate shower/toilet in the garden next to the cottage. These cottages have their own barbeque patio, TV, and ceiling fans.
All of the above include Bed and Breakfast. Mad Dogz Café will cater for all your other needs. Enjoy a delicious home-cooked 3-course dinner served on the lamp lit veranda at additional cost.
