One arrival we were asked if we would like to into a room in the main building instead of the cottage which we had booked at no extra charge. We were happy to do so and were impressed with the room although the mix of Afrikaner furniture with modern furniture is not our taste - the room was very comfortable and we really enjoyed the breakfast. The staff were all friendly and attentive.

Lovely staff, quality room and less than 2 mins from the main streets of Stellenbosch. Outstanding value. We would definitely stay at Batavia if we return to Stellenbosch.

Batavia, as well as the Cape of Good Hope, was a place of rendezvous, a meeting place for ships and travellers, a place to gain access to fresh produce and lastly, a place of restoration. This boutique hotel is conveniently situated just off Dorp Street, the historic heart of Stellenbosch.
