Wilderness village is only a three minute walk from Baharini and has all the necessary amenities needed during your stay: shops, coffee shops and restaurants. There is a beautiful lagoon, a favourite swimming spot for young families. Fishing and local canoe hire for exploring the rivers (surrounded by the most beautiful coastal forest).
The new Garden Route Mall is a 10 minute drive away. An enormous range of shops, banks and a good cinema complex. A 20 minute drive to George & George Airport respectively and a 45 minute drive to both Mossel Bay and Knysna.
The ground floor apartment is self-catering and has four en-suite bedrooms (two doubles, two twin). Well equipped kitchen, including dishwasher. Open plan living area, cable tv. Wonderful bbq and dining area overlooking the sea in a secluded and private area of the garden. The garden is huge and filled with 100 year old protected Milkwood trees. Wooden deck area with dining area. Secure, gated, off-street parking (for one vehicle) on the property. Apartment is cleaned and serviced on demand and there is a laundry room (laundry service can be arranged for a small fee).
What does Wilderness have to offer, other than the miles of golden sand and fabulous views?
Southern Right whales can be seen in the winter and spring months (calving season) from Baharini or at other vantage points and dolphins play in the surf year round.
The house is situated opposite the quaint Wilderness station, so one can jump on the Outeniqua Choe Tjoe steam train which runs regularly between George and Knysna (unfortunately closed at present due to repair after landslide damage from recent heavy rains). The outstanding Track 29 restaurant is now situated in the old ticket office.
Various outdoor activities can be arranged through Eden Adventures, a local adventure & tour operator. Horse trails, Paragliding onto the beach, scenic helicopter rides. Beautiful drives along the old George/Knysna road through breathtaking forest.
A wonderful place for families!
