Facilities

Woodlands Stop Over is situated on the site of the Hunters' Road and overlooks the Tati River, 10 km north of Francistown on the Nata, Maun and Kasane A3 route. It is an ideal stopover to break the long journey for those exploring the northern territories of Botswana and for those wanting to be safely off the roads before dark.

There are grassed individual Campsites with their own braais, water and electrical points, as well as cosy Chalets with African cane furniture. Perhaps you would prefer to relax in our luxurious Woodlands Cottage or one of our Riverview Rooms. All the units are fully equipped for self-catering.

Make use of the lovely sparkling swimming pool to refresh after a long journey. Also available for your convenience are pre-cooked or frozen meals, braai packs, wood, ice, refreshments and other basic food commodities. Breakfast packs are available for early travellers.

A large variety of Botswana bird species can be viewed. Experience the call of the migrant woodlands kingfisher who nests here annually. Animals which are frequently sighted or heard are kudu, impala, bush buck, duiker, steenbok, jackal and monkeys. Lovely walks along the river bank and the Selolwe Ruins National Monument are within walking distance.

We arrived late - the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Bedside lamps would be a useful addition (and en suite mini bathrooms?) but ablution block was clean as were the rooms. Take your own food to cook (if possible) as the small shop is quite expensive - but it was great that it was there in the first place - after a 12 hour drive we didn't feel like driving back into town to look for a restaurant! Hard to take food with you into Botswana! Nice - will stay there again.

At last - someone who understands that noise is as toxic as polluted water. I enjoyed the stay at Woodlands very much. No music - only clean nature bird calls. Pleasant, peaceful , still!!What a joy - will return there God willing soon!

The cottage is nestled amongst the trees along the beautiful banks of the Tati River. There is a spacious well-equipped kitchen and there are two bedrooms with two three-quarter beds and their own en-suite bathrooms.
