Lubanzi is a very remote, small Xhosa village in the middle of nowhere on the beautiful Wild Coast. This is where the road ends, the sea and sky meet, and the sun kisses the waves creating a rhythm of life that is still, pure and undisturbed. Lubanzi is as away-from-everything as you can possibly be. We have no electricity, except a generator at night time, no municipal water as the house is fed by a spring in the nearby field, and most of the time no keys in our doors. This is the great outback, this is rural village life; safe, slow, gentle, and pristine.

The clean and comfortable accommodation is mostly hand-crafted in a lovely rustic style. We have two dormitories and several double rooms, some of them with a shared bathroom and some with an en suite bathroom. There is a cosy communal area and a shared self-catering kitchen. We are just 50 m from the beach with fantastic sea views from most of our rooms.

Enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, freshly baked bread, and vegetables and fruits straight out of the local gardens. Learn about alternative energy and a different way of life; off the grid, self-sustainable, and close to the heartbeat of this beautiful planet. Let yourself be carried away by the sound of the waves, blink into a marvellous sunrise from your bed, and watch the dolphins catch the perfect Lubanzi wave while sipping coffee on the deck.

We had a great time at Wild Lubanzi. The most beautiful view in the world! Aidan and Rachel were great hosts and I'll recommend this place to anyone!

It's kind of a challenge to get there but you end up in a very, very remote place. It's a beautiful view and the ocean is about 50 m away. Other than that, Wild Lubanzi is surrounded by green hills with some houses on them and cattle. Note that if you want to cook for yourself, you should bring everything with you because of the difficulty to reach and leave the location. Breakfast costs R25 and dinner R50. The transport from a secured parking to the backpackers and back is charged at R10 pp.

A great place to chill and take in the amazing views of the stunning coastline with daily sightings of dolphins. Wild Lubanzi is reached by a 7 km section of dust road which can be quite a challenge in wet weather! Everything else was excellent. There were 29 of us for about a week and it did not feel overcrowded.

Ons het Lubanzi besoek van 29 Junie tot 1 Julie 2011. Die uitsig en natuur is baie mooi en Aiden en Rachel se gasvryheid is baie aangenaam. Die stap na Hole in the Wall sal ons nooit vergeet nie. We visited Lubanzi from 29 June to 1 July. The view and nature is beautiful and Aiden and Rachel's hospitality pleasant. We will never forget the walk to Hole in the Wall.
