Wadrift Nature Reserve is a family hideaway situated a 15 minute drive from the centre of Plettenberg Bay and is an ideal centre for exploring the Garden Route with all its spectacular beauty of mountain, forest, lake and sea. Wadrift lies on an old family farm in the Bitou Valley, just off the National Road N2 between the Keurbooms River and Plettenberg Bay. We offer you simplicity, tranquility and real country hospitality, combining modern facilities with Old World charm and a sense of history. We want you to enjoy and return to our little corner of paradise, so our prices are aimed at making your holiday affordable. We do not assume you are traveling with pounds or euros in your wallet! We offer a high standard at a budget price. There are many activities and things to do on and off the reserve, or just relax and let the time pass by. Take a peaceful walk along the Bitou River and enjoy the sight and sounds of a wide variety of bird-life in this wetland habitat - we have more than 140 species sighted on the reserve alone. Walk over the indigenous fynbos covered hills or through the indigenous Garden Route forests on short trails such as the Elephant Trail. Take scenic drives through this splendid region and know why many find it difficult to leave again. Walk along Plettenberg Bay's wide-open and unspoiled beaches. Relax with sun-downers on the beach and watch for the dolphins. Spend the day relaxing and soaking up the sun. Take a short trip to Knysna and explore the Knysna Heads, ramble through the markets and many other interesting craft shops. Do a game drive or game viewing trip on horseback - we have two very good game farms within 7km of us. Whale season from June to November each year provides some spectacular displays, or take a cruise and see the dolphins all year round. Spend a few hours canoeing on the Keurbooms River and explore the wonders of the Bitou River Wetlands or go sea kayaking, bungi jumping, skydiving or abseiling - adrenalin sports are plentiful. The avid anglers will have an enjoyable time with an array of fishing spots to choose from, take boat rides on the sea, river and lagoon or play golf, tennis, squash or go horse riding - all are available close by. For those who just have to stay in contact with the outside world - we have a Wireless hotspot in our reception office.
