Villa Le Veloutier Blanc

Once you reach Blue Bay, you will know where the name comes from. The colours of the sea are incredibly powerful and consist of a variety of many different blues. There is a stunning public beach which is perfectly suited for swimming and relaxing.

This beautiful thatched house has recently been renovated to include all modern comforts. The thatched roof brings an atmosphere of Old World to this wonderful house. The living and common areas of the house are very spacious and cool and the kitchen is large and fully equipped. There are three bedrooms in the main house with en-suite bathrooms offering showers, and there is a separate studio with its own kitchenette and bathroom. There are two verandahs; one facing the sea and the other facing the large garden. There is plenty of room for parking within the garden.

The neighbourhood is purely residential and very quiet. The Pointe d'Esny Lagoon stretches right in front of the house and is the longest lagoon on the island. The beach in front of the property is safe to swim, even for small children.

Blue Bay is particularly famous for its snorkelling trips. Since 1997, a 353-hectare area in the sea just in front of the beach has been appointed as the first and only marine park in Mauritius. The reasons for the foundation are the unusual and unique coral gardens which are situated here. Overall, a figure of about 72 different corals and 32 different species of fish are founded in this area. The corals are sometimes up to 800 years old.

The best way is to go out to the park is with a glass-bottom boat. The trip will take between one and several hours. First the boat will drive you through the park, which is already an experience. Looking through the glass bottom of the boat you will have a good visibility and the skipper will provide you with some information about the different corals and fish. Afterwards the boat will anchor and you have the opportunity to go snorkelling. The underwater world here is really unique. The centuries-old coral garden and the various fish that pass by make you feel as if you were a part of them.
