Umtamvuna River Lodge is the South Coast’s best kept secret. Nestled at the foot of a mountain, in the heart of the nature reserve and on the banks of the Umtamvuna River... you will discover a lodge of leisure. With its sub-tropical gardens, soothing sounds of water falling from the edge of the cliffs and the majestic call of the Fish Eagle you find yourself lost in an unhurried tranquility that soon dispels the tensions and stress of every day life. The Lodge offers accommodation in 8 comfortable airconditioned en-suite Double, Twin or Single rooms with DSTV and private balconies which provide the opportunity to relax at sundown with views of the river and surrounding mountains The pool terrace and cocktail bar, on stilts along side the river, compliment the rustic ambience of the Lodge. The theme continues into the fully licensed Restaurant & Pizzeria, Curio Lounge, with its modern spin on African Decor. Enjoy a meal around the old stone fireplace in winter or take in the breathtaking views out on the huge deck in summer. Indulge in cuisine for every pallet - African style pizza's, traditional home-style dishes as well as some European and African favorites. Open everyday in season and Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday out of season with Wednesday night's "Pizza Nite”, where all standard pizza's are only R20, 3-course Sunday Lunches, breakfasts, light lunches as well as dinner are served. We have the perfect wedding venue, best suited for up to 100 people. The oregan tables and old oak chairs on the weather proof deck set an unforgettable ambiance. We also cater for Christmas parties and functions. Coming soon: Conferencing up to 40 people as well as team building packages. There are many activities that both the Lodge and surrounding attractions have to offer. Boardalign Wakeboard School (on-site) is run by South African Team Coach and Rider, Kevin Dry. Packages include everything from single wakeboard lessons (beginner to pro), over-night-all-inclusive (accommodation, all meals & wakeboarding), Holiday Camps (5-day all inclusive camps in school holidays) and even home-schooling for up and coming talented riders. Challenge some friends to a beach volleyball game or battle it out on the Big Mabel (water tube) behind Tige 22v Wakeboard boat or just enjoy a leisurely cruise. There are trampolines, a climbing wall and a go-cart track on the premises. Surfing lessons are available (bookings essential) with local pro surfer Andrew Banks. Mountain biking, nature walks, horse trails, deep sea fishing, whale watching, rock climbing, abseiling and golf are some of the activities available in close proximity to the Lodge, or just try your luck at the wild coast casino.
