Tulbagh Guest House

After actually booking Bains Barn (what an absolute treasure and within the same pricing bracket), we gave that reservation to my parents for a birthday weekend and resorted to a B&B booking for ourselves. The room, adjacent to the house, made you feel like more of a boarder as opposed to a guest. Mandy, however being nice enough, lacks any professionalism and personality to make your stay wonderful and warm despite the facilities being very basic. The room had no natural light and the one (and only) cupboard was filled with random items that seemed to be there for storage purposes. The whole weekend was a constant battle between wanting to rest and hearing every domestic sound coming from the house, being it the chatter to Dusty, lovely little daschund, or the TV being on top volume. The bathroom had very little pressure in both the shower and bath and you were never quite sure if the geyser has been on or not. The cherry on top was having Mandy knock, not on the actual room door, but on the locked door that separates the room from the house, and her informing us through this door that 'CHECK OUT IS IN 15 MINUTES'. This is still with us being within the alloted time for checking out as per arrangement. (10:00). We naturally left as soon as possible after that and I can assure you that we will not be returning, nor recommending this guest house to anyone. For a lovely experience and superb accomodation, stick to any establishment in Church Street, Tulbagh.

Good comfortable accommodation. Hosts Mandy and Neil very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast every morning. Lovely garden and pool.

A spacious, clean room, good central location and a friendly greeting from helpful hosts. Who could for more?
