  • Tranquility Guest House is situated just 30 minutes south of Cape Town and nestles between two mountains and two oceans along the False Bay coast.

Set high up on a mountainside, it boasts magnificent sea and mountain views, and is within walking distance to the beach.
  • It’s always the perfect time of year to fall in love with Cape Town. We invite you to fall in love and bring your sweetheart to retreat in one of our beautiful and romantic guestrooms.

Indulge yourself with berries and cream upon arrival and sparkling wine and chocolate on your private balcony beneath the stars. Throw in freshly scattered rose petals on your bed, fresh flowers and candles about your room and a surprise sweet treat each evening upon your pillow, and you have the ingredients for romance.

And why not reserve the same suite for your 1st anniversary?
  • What is Tranquility? – A luxurious and exclusive guest house where food is our passion, the tranquility addictive and the attention to detail our gift. Where you leave the bustle of the valley below and you rest beneath the crag of a mountain; you lie in bed watching the sunrise and you hear the Cape francolins announcing the start of a new day; you linger by the fireside eating a delicious home-cooked breakfast and you soak up the sun on your private deck whilst reading your favourite book; you take Rosie, our border collie, for a walk to the beach or up Elsie’s Peak and you become one with nature and smell the fresh flowers; you watch whales frolic in the bay and you gaze in awe at the breathtaking views of the valley, mountains and sea; you lie in the Jacuzzi on the mountain deck beneath the stars and you relax in a candle-lit bath spellbound by the moonlight; you feel the warmth of hospitality and you enjoy the pleasures of Tranquility. It is the most peaceful state of mind.

So why not come and stay at a guest house which has something for everyone and plenty of soul too. May Tranquility touch your soul!
  • Within a few minutes, walk to Fish Hoek’s beautiful, long, white, sandy beach, one of the safest and warmest swimming beaches in the Cape; and its equally famous whale-watching promenade, Jaegers Walk, where from July to October, whales loll just 50 metres from the shore in preparation for mating and giving birth and huge schools of dolphins may be near by.

Smell the salt in the air, feel the sand between your toes and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

Visitors are sometimes treated to the sight of the local fishermen 'trekking' (the Dutch word for pulling) for haarders and yellowtail fish just off the beach.

Reached through a secure parking area, this magnificent beach is great for swimming, snorkeling, Catamaran sailing and paddle-skiing. The beach center offers fine restaurants, change rooms, showers and a children's playground.

The Fish Hoek Surf Life Savers Club offers canoeing and surfing, and both club and international life saving events are frequently held here. The Fish Hoek Beach Sailing Club offers wonderful facilities for Catamaran sailing and boasts five Catamaran World Champions.
  • Tranquility Guest House offers luxurious, beautifully appointed accommodation with delicious home-cooked breakfasts.

It has four en-suite bedrooms, each with its own distinctive charm and character, each a haven of hospitality and a sanctuary of rest.
  • Fruit platters filled with paw-paw, mango, watermelon, pineapple or kiwi slices. Greek Yoghurt drizzled with honey or Strawberry Yoghurt piled high with home-made health muesli chock full of seeds, raisins, nuts and coconut. Free-range eggs cooked to your specs – hard-boiled, scrambled, fried or poached or perhaps a delicious omelet. Bacon, grilled mushrooms, fried banana or sliced cooked tomatoes. American pancakes drizzled with syrup or paprika and red chili, cheese scones – truly delicious food, all home-cooked or baked using only the finest, quality ingredients and the freshest fare around.
  • Tranquility Guest House is perfectly located to watch sunrises and moonrises over the bay.

Lie in bed and watch as the sun rises over the Hottentots Holland mountains bathing the room and the ocean in its pre-dawn light.

Sit out on your private deck beneath the stars and watch in awe as the full moon rises over the bay, casting its shimmering light onto the sea.
  • To make you feel extra special:

•	Strawberry hand-made soaps
•	Fruit platters in your room
•	Fresh lavender posies every day
•	Garden roses on your dressing table
•	Fresh towels every day
•	Room service every day.

Spoil yourself by staying at Tranquility.
  • We invite you to stay at Tranquility Guest House for a “once in a life time” adrenaline packed adventure.

Take a boat trip to Seal Island, in False Bay, 18 nautical miles from Simon’s Town, and home to 64 000 Cape Fur seals and 20 000 Cape cormorants, the hunting ground of the Great White Shark. It is at dawn, on the boat and in the deep waters, on the westerly side of the island, that you have the opportunity to witness one of nature’s most awesome spectacles, the now famous breaching of the Great White Shark as it pursues its prey, the Cape Fur seal.

It is the only place in the world where you are fortunate enough to glimpse this intense predatory/prey interaction and a must do for your trip to Cape Town.
  • Meet our indigenous porcupines who live on Table Mountain Nature Reserve and love to come down each evening to find out if Rosie has left any dinner for them.

They usually wait until the house is dark and quiet and you are only alert to their presence when Rosie starts to growl or you hear the nudging of Rosie's bowl on the back door steps.

Other indigenous animals, birds and reptiles that have made their home at Tranquility are:

the mongoose - who loves to quickly come and drink out of the water fountain;
the African spotted genet - who also comes each evening to find out if both the porcupines and Rosie have left her any dinner;
the Cape francolins - wake us up each morning as they announce the start of a new day, they love to come to the back door to see if you have any crumbs for them;
the Cape cobra - Rosie and the cobra had a quick exchange of greetings one day, leaving the cobra much taken aback and Rosie eager to make a new friend;
the tortoise - we refer to the fire break at the back of the house as tortoise highway as most times you can see a few tortoises lumbering along.
  • Since its opening, Tranquility has been inundated with people who love a delightful place to be and a place where refreshment and restoration are not hard to find, including warm South African hospitality.
  • Rosie, our resident border collie, absolutely loves people, both children and adults alike. Although exuberant and inquisitive, and very loveable and friendly, she will make you feel most welcome.

She particularly loves it if you throw a ball or stick for her on the mountain. She does accompany hikers wishing to take a walk up Elsie’s Peak.

Should she bark ferociously in the middle of the night, don’t worry, she is simply telling our indigenous porcupines not to come any further.

Tranquility Guest House is situated just 30 minutes south of Cape Town and nestles between two mountains and two oceans along the False Bay coast. Set high up on a mountainside, it boasts magnificent sea and mountain views, and is within walking distance to the beach. Since its opening, Tranquility has been inundated with people who love a delightful place to be and a place where refreshment and restoration are not hard to find, including warm South African hospitality.

Open the mountain door and, if you are feeling energetic, take a walk in Table Mountain National Park, amidst the indigenous fynbos, to Elsie’s Peak, where the views are unbelievable and False Bay lies before you from Strandfontein to Cape Point; or within a few minutes’ walk to Fish Hoek’s beautiful, long, white, sandy beach, one of the safest and warmest swimming beaches in the Cape; and its equally famous whale-watching promenade, Jaegers Walk, where from July to October, whales loll just 50 metres from the shore in preparation for mating and giving birth and huge schools of dolphins may be nearby. Visitors are sometimes treated to the sight of the local fishermen 'trekking' (the Dutch word for pulling) for haarders and yellowtail fish just off the beach. Smell the salt in the air, feel the sand between your toes and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

If you're hungry, why not try the fish shop across from the BP garage in the village, renowned by Capetonians across the Peninsula for its delicious fish and chips. If it is exercise you are looking for and you have a bike or a good pair of shoes, the road to Kalk Bay or to Simon’s Town is the perfect one to hit. With waves crashing below you on one side and mountains towering above you on the other, your senses become intoxicated with just being alive. Kalk Bay, with its famous fishing Harbour; its own version of Petticoat Lane: junk shop after junk shop filled with bric-a-brac and “antiques” and of course its famous cafés and restaurants – not to mention ‘Olympia Café and Deli’, known for its good food and its fresh pastries - is only around the cove. Historical Simon’s Town, its naval base and museums, its famous dog - St. Just Nuisance – and its boat trip to see the now famous breaching of the Great White Shark; as well as Boulder’s Beach - swimming with the penguins - are a twelve minute car ride away and a twenty minute ride by car will have you at the most south westerly point of Africa at Cape Point, a natural World Heritage Site, where the cold Benguela current on the West coast and the warm Agulhus current on the East coast merge. The guest house is ten minutes by car from the internationally renowned Chapman’s Peak Drive and the oldest wine route in the Cape, the Constantia Vineyards, the first, a perfect vantage point to watch the sun go by and the second, a great outing for a rainy day, where anything from wine to olives can be enjoyed.

The guest house is 45 minutes away from Cape Town International Airport and centrally disposed to all of Cape Town’s tourist attractions, the perfect guest house for one day tours to Cape Town city-centre, the V&A Waterfront, and Table Mountain; Hermanus; the Cape Winelands and the West Coast National Park to see the flowers. Should you be a golfing enthusiast, your wife shall have the privilege of waking up and looking out her window to catch you, in time, teeing off of your first hole – with binoculars, of course – at the famous Clovelly Country Club just across the valley.

What is tranquility? A luxurious and exclusive guest house where food is our passion, the tranquility addictive and the attention to detail our gift. May Tranquility touch your soul.
