Deserved its 4 stars.
Penryn was a lovely place to stay, Jean was warm and welcoming - and very reassuring when I was still in Newcastle after the sun had set (owing to the roadworks on the N11)! She told me I only had another 40 minutes of driving to do - which made the journey seem less awsome. It was easy to find - well marked with an electric sign at the gate - instead of having to peer out for the numbers. The gardens were heavenly and the rooms exceedingly well appointed. What a superb place in the mountains!
We enjoyed our stay at 'Die berghuisie', the Barberton Mountain Lodge very, very much. It is a wonderful lodge at the most amazing location! It was great to spend two nights here, and we could celebrate our 1-year anniversary in the heated rock pool overlooking the town and the valley......
