Description

The Woods is an old woodcutter’s farm cottage, lovingly restored with a touch of French décor. The two-bedroom cottage comfortably accommodates up to four guests, perfect for a family getaway. The lounge is comfortably furnished with a television and an old Dover wood stove for those cold winter evenings.

The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen for preparing great cuisine. A lovely, north-facing, sunny terrace with a built-in braai opens onto the beautifully kept garden which borders the indigenous forest. Sunsets over the mountains are spectacular to watch from the terrace. Short courses in French and pottery are regularly given and guests are welcome to partake.

The village of Bibbyshoek, which is situated in Rheenendal, is the heart of the historical past of the gold miners and woodcutters of Knysna, as described in the world-famous book 'Circles in the Forest'.

Our stay was fantastic. The cottage is real old world, but extremely comfortable. Just a pity we did not have time to laze on the verandah with a good book. Establishment is dog and HORSE friendly.
