Description
The Tides Lodge is an intimate and unpretentious place with only 7 beach cottages and 2 family houses set on a picture post card palm fringed bay that is one of the finest beaches in East Africa. The lodge has a reputation for fine cuisine and specializes in seafood. The cottages are very spacious with large billowing mosquito nets over a huge bed overlooking the Indian Ocean. All have a private veranda and sunbathing area with parasol. The cottages are kept cool by the near constant sea breeze. The bar and restaurant overlooks the ocean and has an intimate and cosy feel to it. A wide range of wines and drinks are available as well as daily cocktails and fresh 'madafu' (chilled coconut drink). Lunch is served informally in the bar with a choice of four dishes that change daily, all made to order from the freshest ingredients sourced locally. This usually comprises of fresh fish and seafood. Dinner is more formal with three courses and is served in the main restaurant. The tides never goes out so far that you cannot swim in the sea, and for those people that prefer not to swim in the sea there is a lovely pool too. Activities include snorkelling on Maziwe Island Marine Park and fishing, cultural tours of the historic Pangani as well as beach walks, kayaking and bike hire.
