The Olive House

The Olive House is the second oldest house in Montagu and a National Monument. Montagu, the Gateway to the Karoo, only 180 km from Cape Town, is a village with soul. Here you will find a welcoming, happy community.

At The Olive House we have five beautifully decorated rooms. We have one family room, one double en-suite bedroom in the main house and three garden rooms. There is a well-equipped communal kitchen, a braai area, free Wi-Fi with outside plug points and a gorgeous enclosed garden with a small swimming pool.

The in-house gallery showcases the works of over 30 local artists in a variety of different mediums. Art in the Garden is offered on Saturdays with live music during the day. Local artists can be observed working and some activities for participation are also offered. View our historic sites, or take a wander around our bustling village market on a Saturday morning. Enjoy a Tractor ride with a difference. There are over 300 free climb routes and a number of cycling routes in the area. Visit the Montagu Hot Springs and excellent wine farms in the Langeberg region.

We now have a restaurant offering a variety of Croatian, local and international cuisine in a lovely garden setting. We have a lounge with a TV with DStv and an indoor dining room. Both have open fireplaces for the cold winter nights. The Olive House lends itself as an intimate venue for small functions. All rooms can be booked on either a bed and breakfast, dinner, bed and breakfast, or self-catering basis. We are also pet friendly.
