Kloofzicht Estate Loft and Cottages

Description

THE LOFT accommodation is situated above the Kloofzicht Estate wine cellar and is 3km from the picturesque Tulbagh Village. This spacious accommodation sleeps 6-9 people. The huge loft space has a king size bed on one side, a lounge in the centre and 2 single beds ideal for children or additional adults on the opposite side. The king size bed is screened off from this side for privacy. A Romeo & Juliet balcony overlooks the dam, with stunning sunset views over the mountains. Leading off this main loft space is a 2nd double bedroom and a spacious bathroom with shower.

Downstairs is an open plan kitchen, dining, lounge area with a daybed for an overnight guest and a fireplace. Leading off this area is another spacious suite with queen bed, lounge, kitchenette and one & a half bathrooms with its own entrance onto the garden. Outside is a large wraparound deck to relax with a sun downer and beautiful gardens to sit and read a book in, or simply stroll through, following the vineyards down the river winding through the farm. In front of the loft is a large dam that is safe for swimming and excellent for bass fishing. There is a private pool next to the main house, which may only be used when the owners are out or on request. All linen and bath towels are supplied, but please bring extra towels for swimming.

For smaller groups, we have 2 inter-leading one bedroom cottages, each with 2 daybeds in the open plan lounge / dining / kitchen areas.

We have 3 and a half large dogs that may pop over to say hello, so if you are allergic to, or afraid of dogs, then this is not the place for you.

Kloofzicht Estate is a relaxed base from which to explore historical Tulbagh. Situated as it is in the bowl of so many maintains, Tulbagh is an ideal outdoorsy retreat, offering horse riding, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, birding and 4x4 routes, besides wine, that is. This is known as the secluded valley for good reason. You won't pass through Tulbagh on your way to anywhere. You have to seek it out. A welcome hiatus and the ideal weekend escape.

The town itself is bursting with gems. It has the highest concentration of national monuments in South Africa, and since the "historic" earthquake of 1969, which damaged many of the old Cape Dutch and Victorian style buildings, restoration has resulted in a quaint village atmosphere drawing adventurous weekenders. Turn off the main street (which looks like that of any other Boland town) and seek out Church Street, where a plethora of B&B's, restaurants and museums line the old street with it's original irrigation sluice.

Our "Things I Love" deli, bakery and restaurant has moved to the picturesque Tulbagh Village and offers a substantial breakfast, delightful light lunch and early supper menu and a witch's house full of wicked and decadent treats for the sweet tooth. The cellar stocks a wide range of fabulous local wines. Or simply pack a well-equipped picnic basket with scrumptious goodies from the deli and relax under the palm trees in the garden.

The Deli is open seven days a week.
