The Guardians are situated on a working farm at the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg, in the busy little town of Elliot, which offers wonderful activities against a backdrop of dramatic mountain scenery. The Guardians is just 5 km out of town.

The Guardians offers accommodation in a beautiful setting, in luxurious thatched cottages and family units. Guests have a choice of self-catering or bed and breakfast accommodation, with dinner available by prior arrangement.

Activities in the surrounding area include rock art sites, fly-fishing, horse riding, hiking trails, and 4x4 trails.

After finding Elliot a depressing place with poverty, dirt and general neglect all around, the Guardians was the complete opposite and we really enjoyed the beauty of nature and the hospitality of Joanita. The food she had prepared for us comes highly recommended. The cottage allocated to us was clean and comfortable. We recommend a little better lighting for reading in the lounge.

The location, not far from the Elliot, was incredible. We found everything clean and comfy. The gardens are lovely and everything needed for a comfortable stay is provided - even charcoal! Overall we found it very good value for money and would use it again.

I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at The Guardians! The surroundings is beautiful! You feel right at home, fresh air, friendly people, animals and the mountains! It's really an awesome place to go and rest, so peaceful!
