This place is truly stunning though we did nearly lose the will to live on the road to get there. Our room was exceptional, very comfortable and a unique experience. We were very sorry we were only there for one night. We found the service of wines a little confusing and the staff not as well informed about them as perhaps they should have been. There was also some confusion over the deposit paid when it came to pay the bill not helped by the rather confusing way the bill was presented ... more

Recently had a 3 night stay in a B&B chalet. The complex itself is about 7/8 kms down a dirt track which can prove to be rather bumpy in places. However, it is worth the drive, chalets are spacious and well furnished with a large bathroom. The restaurant at the Lodge is well worth visiting we had two excellent dinners there.
Would thoroughly recommend The Fernery, just drive slowly!

Beautiful & Secluded....Nestled along the river bank, the charming Fernery Chalets are beautifully furnished and equipped, offering guests the perfect country retreat. Spacious and secluded, each chalet has a bath and shower en suite, a ceramic fireplace, mini bar, tea and coffee facilities, a weber braai, hair dryer and digital safe.The self catering chalets are ideal for families as they sleep 4 people on an open plan basis – two upstairs and two downstairs, sharing a bathroom.
These chalets have a fully equipped kitchenette and the quoted price is for the chalet excluding breakfast. The Fernery is open daily for breakfast and light meals and The Otters Holt Restaurant offers an excellent 4 course table d'hôte dinner menu. Chalet meals, including a 3 course barbeque, are prepared and delivered to guests at their chalets on request.
Activities on and around the Estate include jogging, hiking, birding and cycling routes (6 mountain bikes are available for hire), forest trails and picnics, and fishing and rowing on the dam. The Dolphin Trail ends here if guests would like to enquire about this 3 day option to hike the Tsitsikamma Coast in luxury.
