Description

The Cavern is a holiday resort offering accommodation in the KwaZulu-Natal region. Named after the Cannibal Cavern, it is situated on 3000 hectares of private mountain reserve adjacent to the Royal Natal National Park Amphitheatre - a World Heritage Site.

This stunning full-board Drakensberg resort has won numerous awards and accolades. Superior suites, family rooms and standard accommodation options are available, all with spectacular views of the surrounding valleys, forests and mountainside.

The thatched accommodation and facilities blend beautifully with their natural surroundings. The Cavern is home to numerous bushman paintings, 213 species of birds, 150 species of trees and a great variety of wild animals.

Allow our friendly staff to welcome you to our dining room where a Table d'hôte menu offers a wide choice at every meal. Weekly functions include Lunch in the Sun, Boma Buffets and Potjie Pots. A range of beers and a selection of South African wines are available. The Emaweni Cave Bar is fully licensed, and operates between 12h00 and 23h00.

All our guided walks visit places of beauty and historical interest. Lone Rock, with its exquisite bushman paintings is one such place. We offer guided horse riding trips for beginner and expert riders alike. Enjoy breathtaking scenery in a temperate climate and tranquil surroundings.

Spa: Unwind in magnificent surroundings - enjoy relaxing treatments by qualified body care therapists at our Forest Retreat. The Spa overlooks the Fern Forest and offers a choice of massage as well as various body treatments and grooming options.

The Cavern is an absolute gem! Am so glad we found it and will definitely be going back! The price was all inclusive (excluding drinks and the Spa) and our every need was catered for. Tucked away in the foothills of the Berg, not only is the location stunning, but so is the layout of the resort - there's a place for everyone and the meals were fantastic. It's also a nature lovers paradise and you have your pick of activities from hiking (many trails and guided walks), horse riding, pool, table tennis, a library, entertainment area, horse riding, tennis and bowls - something for everyone. :)... see more

Accommodation, location and food was great. However they dont consider or should i say neglect to consider parents with small kids during dining times.IF u have kids...best look elsewhere.

Enjoyed the daily morning guided on site walks (3-4 hours) and opportunity to chill in the afternoon. Good food and service.

Great value for money! Will visit there again soon for sure!

Lovely hotel complex high up in the Drakensberg region. Well appointed, quiet rooms with lovely views. The pool was very nice. Hotel staff was alert and very nice as was the bartenders and guides. The restaurant staff was a bit stressed out and needs some extra training. The dining experience was rushed and the food not exactly to our taste even though some servings were a delight.
