A stay at this funky Klein Karoo hotel is an experience that can’t be missed. Just off the magnificently scenic Route 62, only 2.5 hours from Cape Town en route between Cape Town and the Garden Route/Cango Caves, you’ll find the Barrydale Karoo Hotel nestled in the sun drenched valley of the Langeberg Mountains. Even in winter the day time temperature is moderate.

Barrydale offers the visitor much to see and explore aside from the beautiful walks in the area you can browse the picturesque village of Barrydale, take a drive though the scenic Tradauw Pass which is very close by, unwind in the hot springs, a 20 minute drive from the hotel or just relax in front of the open fires and enjoy fine wines, ports and bubbly in our character-filled bar. We have an extensive wine list, which includes the best local wines, in our fully stocked bar. Cigars, single malt whiskeys and cognacs are also available for the connoisseur. For dinner we have the excellent restaurant Clarke of the Karoo on our premises and at the end of the evening snuggle under luxurious percale linen with electric blankets to beat the cold.

The Barrydale Karoo Hotel, under new management since April 2010, arranges live musical events with South African artists at least once a month over weekends.

The hotel has 16 rooms, it’s easy enough to book the whole hotel and fill it exclusively with your friends for a special occasion or just a good party. We have a variety of catering options available and can tailor-make a weekend to suit your occasion, for example weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries and conferences. We have piano, CD players, DVD and even a turntable with a great selection of vinyl records in the bar. Guests are also invited to bring their own vinyls and play DJ themselves. The bar has a small stage which can be used for live music and other performances. We also have the lovely historic Belanti Theatre, the old town cinema which is a spacious hall with a big stage - ideal for bigger functions and weddings.

Our rates include a hearty Karoo breakfast and we offer greatly reduced prices when you book the whole hotel for one night or more. We also offer free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel for resident guests. This eclectic hotel is a mix of old and new and has something to offer for everyone.

Excellent, excellent! I love everything about the hotel. The people are friendly especially the lady with the kaftan at reception. The breakfast we had was super (Clarke of the Karoo) Mr Mike. Say thanks to him as well. We will definitely be back.

Haai daar Ons het baioe lekekr gebly bu julle laas naweek. Mense was vriendelik en diens was goed. Kamer was tot ons voorkeur. Lekker groot bed (kamer 2). Kort dalk net 'n tv. Sou bad verkies het vir die moee lywe van die motorfiets toer waarop ons was. Entertainment was goed. Rugby gelukkig ook! Drank ietwat duur. Kos - het meer verwag. Geen nagereg gekry. Ontbyt was average - geen worsie ens. Als en als lekker gebly en gekuier. Sal defnitief weer kom bly asook vir vriende en famielie aanraai om te kom. Dekor is/bly fantasties in die hotel.

We arrived late at the hotel and were warmly welcomed and our luggage taken upstairs to two artistically decorated rooms. We dined at the excellent Mez restaurant and had a ball of a time until our departure the next morning. What an amazing place with amazing people.

I stayed for one night on a business trip. I appreciated the WiFi access. The room was clean and recently redecorated in a modern design. I just missed the mirror above the wash basin and rooibos tea in my room. The staff was friendly and efficient. Breakfast and dinner was well prepared. The sudden absence of the receptionist to handle my check-out was handled with care and much apology. When the redecoration of the hotel is complete, it will be worth a visit just to view the décor.
