Terra Rouge is a Kalahari sheep farm operated by the owners, only 45 km from the Kgalagadi National Park’s Namibian border post, Mata Mata, and one km from the main road and the C15. We are situated in a very quiet and natural area.

The farm only has three bungalows and a campsite. The bungalows are all private, but not too far from the main house. The campsite is one km from the main house on the banks of the dry Auob river, covered by huge camel thorn trees. Guests are free to walk wherever they like and we also have a high dune close to the accommodation which is perfect for sun downers.

We have a meerkat family living close to our house and they can be seen in the mornings and late afternoons as they move around freely. There is a duiker who made the front of one of the bungalows his home, he’s been here for two years, and we have other unexpected bird life and wildlife in the riverbed.

We sell wood and meat, mostly organic lamb chops, for barbecues. The owner can do a side dish or bake fresh bread by prior arrangement. A take away dinner can be organised for guests to enjoy in the privacy of their bungalow, outside on the veranda, or on a dune. Breakfast picnic baskets can also be ordered. Please let me know well in advance if we need to get fresh supplies as we are far from a town and we have children in the school that we sometimes have to attend to.

Terra Rouge is a great place to stop over before you enter the Kalahari Transfrontier Park from the Mata Mata border post. It is only about 1 hour's drive from the border. Hanli was a welcoming hostess & the chalet was nice & clean & more than enough for our needs (we are a couple with an 8 year old daughter). It was a pity we did not arrive earlier to enjoy visiting the farm!

Due to problems with my back we have to go earlier away - just one night. The owners where very friendly. We had a very good diner. The little house was clean. Problem to many insects, means you could not stay outsides.

First of all we were so warm welcomed that we regretted to stay only one night. If we would ever come again in this area we will definitely stay longer at Terra-Rouge. Hanli and Pieter made us feel at home. In addition we learned a lot about farm life and the tour through the farm was incredible. We think that a stay at Terra-Rouge is absolutely recommendable!

Travelling for 4 weeks through wonderful Namibia TERRA ROUGE was one of our best stays: Hanli and her husband Pieter welcomed us so warmly that we left as friends. Everything was perfect: the beautiful accommodation arranged by Hanli, the most tasty meals she prepared for us, the stunning nature in the Auob riverbed and the tomato-rouge sand dunes nearby: a very beautiful place! Hanli's care for us was perfect and her husband Pieter gave us - although he has as a hard working farmer not much free time - much insight in his daily business and explained us plants and animals - we know much more about nature in Namibia now! Pieter always tried to be with us at dinner but a real farm life often includes work until bedtime! Very courageous hosts! We can say that we fully enjoyed our stay at TERRA ROUGE and we recommend this lovely place warmly to everybody.
