Wonderful experience
We stayed two nights at Tembe and had a true experience of living in the bush. We saw three of the big five and lots more animals and birds on our game drives. Having said that I'm sure you could also experience game drives and not see many animals at all as Tembe covers a vast area and of course the animals can go anywhere and not be seen. This happened on one of our drives - all we saw were a few Impala and Nyala but 'hey' they don't pop out in front of you to order.

Description
Experience the majesty of the largest and only indigenous elephant herd in KwaZulu-Natal South Africa – and so much more! Situated in Maputaland, in North-Eastern KwaZulu-Natal, Tembe is home to a rich diversity of wildlife – including the “Big Five” – and is also a bird watchers paradise! Enjoy the best of both worlds … the magnificence of a national game park (managed by KZN Nature Conservation/KZN Wildlife), with the personal touch and service of a private lodge! The lodge consists of luxury en-suite tented accommodation (stunning glass walled showers look out into the bush!). A thatch-sheltered splash pool, and open braai area complete the picture. Cultural experiences include Zulu/Thonga dancing – or even a visit to the local Sangoma! Tariffs include all meals and 2 daily guided 4x4 game drives. Dates which apply for Peak Season are : 10 - 14 April 2009, 24 April - 03 May 2009, 12 - 17 June 2009, 07 - 11 August 2009, 23 - 27 September 2009 and 23 December 2009 - 03 January 2010. En-suite bathrooms with charming glass-walled showers which look out on dense surrounding bush.

Situated approximately 300 metres away from the reception area. Luxury Safari tent built on a wooden platform with a deck, where you can safely sit and watch the animals roam by on the other side of the electric fence.
This unit has 2 x Queen size beds within. En suite toilet & basin. Outside shower.
This unit is suitable for families with small children who don't mind sharing a queen size bed.
