Set in the outskirts of the Suikerbosrand and next to the Vaal Dam, Stryfontein offers the perfect breakaway from the nearby city life and is only about 70 km from the OR Thambo International Airport of Johannesburg.

Enjoy more than 16 species of South African game in their natural habitat. Beautiful views of the Vaal Dam which is about three kilometers from the one fence line. The Stryfontein game farm is part of the Klipkraal Conservancy.

The farm is situated 35 km from Vereeniging, 40 km from Heidelberg and 6 km from Vaalmarina, an ideal position for game lovers as well as water sport enthusiasts.

Walking trails for game viewing on foot and good roads for game viewing in your own vehicle. More than one hundred species of birds have been identified in the area-checklist available.

Accommodation is available in two converted silos, a renovated old farmhouse and two cottages. A total of eight bedrooms all with private bathrooms. There is a converted milking parlour with ten mattresses, two showers, two basins and two toilets for young adventurers who do not mind to rough it a bit. Ideal for small hiking groups.

A shed has been converted into a lecture room for meetings, seminars or team buildings. No quad bikes or pets allowed. No smoking inside the chalets. Provide own wood or charcoal.

The Strooise are two converted silos. They are double storey facilities with the bedroom with two single beds and bathroom with shower on the top floor as well as a stoep from where you have a wonderful view of the whole farm as well as the Vaal Dam. Beautiful sunsets can be viewed from here. On the ground floor there is a small living room with a kitchenette, small fridge, hotplate, toaster and kettle as well as the necessary cutlery and crockery. Bed linen and towels provided. Braai facilities available. No TV.

Exceptionally quiet breakaway. Too cold to put my wife into the Stroois accomodation, so we called the owner on arrival and paid in for better facilities, and chilled. The game on this farm is amazingly easy to sight and on Sunday we awoke to approximately 12 buck grazing on the front clearing!

The Kaia cottage is very nice and unique as it is built under the sorrounding trees and totally enclosed by trees and bushes, which gives it a natural, wild, bushy atmosphere. Very quiet and peaceful. The game is a little far away from the cottages and difficult to see but we drove around and got to see some buck and zebra. It's great if you're not into luxury and just want the basics to survive a quiet weekend in the bush.
