Description

Strawcroft Cottage is situated in a quiet corner of a farm at the top of Van Reenen's Pass, just 9 km off the N3. It overlooks Nelsons Kop and the Tanjiesberg with the Wilge River in the valley below.

The cottage sleeps six people in three double bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. There is a large open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen area. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a built-in braai on the covered verandah.

The cottage is built of wheat straw bales which are an eco-friendly, renewable resource. It has excellent insulation properties giving the cottage a cosy, welcoming feel. For those who enjoy their creature comforts, the cottage has an open fireplace and there are eco-heaters in all of the bedrooms. Hot water bottles are also supplied.

There are four definite seasons at Van Reenen. Summers are delightfully warm without being excessively hot, and winter mornings usually start with icy frost on the ground and the occasional snowfall.
