Sodwana Bay Lodge and Hotel Resort is placed in the heart of Maputaland on the western shore of Lake Shazibe, bordered by the world’s highest naturally vegetated dunes which shelter the golden beaches of the lush interior. The area is surrounded by fertile swamps and sand forests with rare and protected animal and plant species, as well as wide lakes and extensive river estuaries which are full of life. The careful design of the lodge has been done in order to match the rustic, Eco-orientated nature of the Kwa Zulu Natal region. The chalet at Sodwana Bay Lodge was perfect! Clean, cosy and secure with a sun deck out the front to catch a few rays or watch the moon rise. It was well equipped with a fridge, tea and coffee facilities, DStv and a safe to place all your valuables in. We had dinner in the restaurant and we must say the food was a highlight. The steaks were amazing and came with delicious sauces and our breakfast omelette the next day was something to write home about! The grounds are beautiful to walk around and there is plenty to keep the kids busy - two jungle gyms, a volley ball court, two swimming pools and a games room. There is also a dive shop where you can buy or hire equipment and book your dives. There is even a hairdresser if you need a trim. They seem to have thought of everything. We really enjoyed our stay.

Functional furnished Chalets. Excellent dinner menu selection. Endless deserted white sandy beach but only reachable with a car. Great place to stay for a couple of days if you like diving or fishing. Not recommendable for swimming.

Ons het die verblyf by Sudwana Bay Lodge baie geniet. Ons hotel kamer was gerieflik en die resturant se kos baie smaaklik! Die strand is net 'n bietjie ver, maar die lodge se goeie diens maak daarvoor op. We enjoyed the stay at Sudwana Bay Lodge a lot. The hotel room was comfortable and the restaurant's food was very good! The beach is a bit far, but the service and hospitality makes up for that.

We loved our lodge and prolonged the stay to 14 days! The staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. The only mistake was that we book with meals! The food in the restaurant is just horrible. We tried three different meals and unfortunately no improvement. So we had to switch over to a restaurant in the neighborhood and lost the money for that. Over all, we will definitely come back, but only rent a self-catering!

We loved the wooden chalet and the outlay of the room. It was awesome having our own balcony which overlooked the garden. We could hear the ocean clearly and loved the sounds of wildlife. The restaurant was large and rustic with friendly service. The food was fantastic with melt-in-your-mouth calamari.
