Description

The under canvas experience at Sibuya Game Reserve is a completely unique experience as Sibuya is the only South African Game Reserve where access is exclusively by boat via the stunningly beautiful Kariega River. Guests are collected at the river mouth The River is an Estuary in the small town of Kenton on Sea, where safe parking is provided, and the unique experience starts immediately with a gentle cruise up the Estuary to the game reserve 9 kms upstream.

After settling in to the accommodation, luxury en-suite tents on raised wooden decks, guests are able to map out their own programme with their guide. Our camps, with only four tents in our River Camp and eight in our Forest Camp, result in an exclusive and personalised experience. A mixture of game drives, river cruises, guided bush or beach walks, and excellent birding, will enthrall those with a desire to fill the day, whilst hammocks in the trees or a fishing line dangling in the water will suit those who wish to take it easy.

For the really energetic canoeing, deep-sea fishing, can all be provided at extremely reasonable rates. But what makes this a truly memorable experience is the unequalled splendour of the vistas as one views game against the magnificent backdrop of pristine coastal forest and the sea a few kilometres away. Completing the under canvas experience are the tranquil evenings around the campfire listening to the lapping waters in the river and the night calls of the bush while feasting on our superb cuisine. In true bush camp tradition all the distractions are removed as the absence of electricity ensures the experience is not spoilt by the sounds of modern society.

We offer Under 12's 50% disc if sharing with parents. Our Forest Camp does not take children under 12 as it is not child friendly where as our River Camp is child friendly. Professional guides and an abundance of game and birds, including the Big 5, will leave you saying Sibuya we will return.

Wellness & Spa: Massages, manicures and pedicures are available.

Wedding Venues: Sibuya caters for weddings of up to 120 people. We do not charge a venue hire fee; however whilst a wedding is taking place we cannot accommodate non-wedding guests on the reserve so all 12 tents need to be booked out for at least the wedding night.

Conference Venues: Forest Camp provides the ideal setting for board meetings and small conferences of up to 24 delegates. Standard conference equipment; data projector, screen, notepads, pens, water and mints are provided in our package.

Honeymoon: Special honeymoon turn-downs are available.

          11 November 2010

Your first experience when you get to Sibuya Game Reserve is a 14 km boat ride up the Kariega River to your camp. You sit back have a drink and enjoy the surroundings with fish eagles flying above and game feeding on the side of the river. You feel like you are entering paradise. Once you arrive you realise you are in paradise. The tented camp is quite exquisite. Our tent was right on the river far away from anyone else. When you lie in bed all you hear are the sounds of the wild. The tent is luxurious with one of the best bathrooms I have ever seen. Everything is run on solar or gas and it all works amazingly well. I was so impressed. Our game drives were phenomenal. They have the big 5 and we got to see everything including a month old rhinoceros which I was quite ready to take home with me. They have a cheetah sanctuary that you can visit where the cheetah was about 5 meters away from you. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 course dinner and all day grazing. I had to loosen my belt when we left. Thank you Sibuya for such a memorable stay.

          29 December 2007

Our stay was exceptional from start to finish. After an amazing boat trip we arrived at the lodge which was even better than we could have imagined with every attention to detail. The game drives were brilliant, food and beverages superb - stay for at least two nights or longer - you wont want to leave! Very special compliments to our game ranger Mark. Gijs and Sam (Holland)

          09 November 2006

Our two nights in Sibuya exceeded our wildest expectations. The most friendly of staff, unique habitat and surprisingly child friendly (for our 5 year old). Would highly recommend Sibuya to anyone wishing to escape from the land crusier hoards that we found at other game reserves.

          06 March 2006

Our weekend at Sibuya was one of the purest forms of escapism that we have had the pleasure of being able to experience for a very long time. The setting was idyllic, the staff were extremely friendly and very good at their job - they obviously enjoy what they are doing - the tents were very well appointed, very comfortable and with a subtle touch of luxury. We didn't go on all the game drives but then we are privileged enough to have spent many days in the bush so for us it was all about the peace and quiet and being able to do absolutely nothing! Very good value for money, sincerely hope they manage to maintain their prices and not go through the roof like some of the bigger game reserves. And SafariNow.com reservations all up to scratch. All in all this has been a wonderful getaway. Thankyou
