Amazing Stay at San Dune Lodge

We has the most amazing stay for 2 nights at San Dune Lodge for the last of our 3 week holiday in Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. The lodge is a haven of tranquility, stunningly designed by Andrew. The food was the best we had on our trip - Elan and blessbok steaks. We had a very special visit to the San people living at the reserve and a most informative hiking trip with them. The staff were most attentive, we all wish we were still there!

A Wonderful Experience

Our two-night stay with Daan, Elsebe, Jaco-Marie and Andrew was absolutely fantastic. The setting is breathtaking, the service superb and the Andrew's cooking is an absolute pleasure. We'll be making a point of visiting them again on our future trips through Namibia.

Description

San Dune Lodge - Guesthouse SanDüne Game Lodge is a 4600ha fenced game farm with more than 1000 animals & more than 13 species, situated in the Kalahari Forest area, 160km east from Windhoek International Airport on the B6 route 100km from the lodge to the Botswana Buitepos Border Post. The lodge consists of a guesthouse, wooden safari bush villa and safari bush tented accommodation. The comfortable main dining area, covered under shade trees with a panoramic view on a waterhole can be enjoyed 24 hours. Night game viewing is possible from this area, where herds of kudu, blue wildebeest, birds of pray, and small antelope harvest from the gardens. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with optional night drives in the beautiful Kalahari forest, comfortable Dinner, Bed & Breakfast, and a lot of privacy, wildlife freedom and relaxed moments with personal attention. Hiking trails, waterhole outlook points and magnificent bird watching, such as the largest flying bird species are some of the activities that can be enjoyed. SanDüne is set to offer an experience to revive the soul and restore the senses. Whether it is on a private getaway or corporate meeting the lodge reserve’s reputation owes much to its ability to fulfill the wildlife lover’s needs. SanDüne is a destination where one must arrive before sunset to experience the wildlife, Kalahari, sand and bush atmosphere. Personal attention, a lot of fresh air, Kalahari sand under your feet, good food and astonishing wildlife will await you. While the big bema fire welcomes you after a late afternoon game drive with sundowners in the field, dinner will be prepared with unique blends of African flavors. As the last red glows of a perfect sunset cascade across the Namibian horizon and light dwindles in the retreat of the all-encompassing shadow of night, silence falls across the landscape in anticipation of nocturnal awakenings. Facilities Available: Under cover and open-air dining areas. Tea and Coffee stations Small Library with animals, bird and plant books available. Laundry Service Ladies Bar Boma braai area Curio Shop. Area Description: Gobabis is the railhead and center of a prosperous ranching industry that extends across the border (120km) into Botswana cattle country. The district is some 10 million hectares in extent and supports 880 farms. Dairy and beef processing plants have been established in town. Gobabis means 'the drinking place of the elephants', a reference to the nearby Swart Nossob River. Like many other towns in Namibia, Gobabis developed around a mission station established in 1856 by Frederich Eggert of the Rheinish Missionary Society.
