You get a real cosy mountain feel at this place!,04 August 2008
Especially on a cold winter evening (even a snowless one) next to the fireplace at the bar on a couple of drinks, watching cricket and quietey arguing with your fellow guest, which part of South Africa this big Sable antelope, whose head is hanging on the wall, came. And then, there is the hearty dinner and the big cosy bed with the warm electric blanket!
And the real ski-slopes are just a day-trip away!

The Hotel is really nice and have a very kind staff. There is peace and quiet. The food is home cooking and is very good. Is situated in a beautiful and fabled little town in the heart of wonderful highest mountains.

Deep in the Southern Drakensberg, in the valley of the Bell River, at the foot of the highest mountain pass in South Africa (Naudesnek) lies the picturesque town of Rhodes (voted one of SA most secret places by Getaway Magazine), on the main route between Barkly East and Maclear.
The Rhodes Hotel have been catering for guests since 1899. It offers a lovely glimpse into the area's colourful past.
