Description

Red Monkey Lodge is a cosy beach lodge with only nine rooms, a restaurant and a bar. Located on the sandy beach in Jambiani, on the wonderful southeast coast of Zanzibar.

This area is our favourite as mass tourism has not spoilt the original atmosphere. There are plenty of activities in the area such as diving, kiteboarding, bike touring, and deep sea fishing.

The Red Monkey Lodge is the realization of a lifetime dream and intends to be a non-pretentious and laid-back location for holidays, while offering a high-level service to spoil our guests. Keywords include barefoot, informal, cosy, water sports and great food and drinks. We do not offer animation programs or plasma screen TVs in the rooms, and prefer guests that have genuine interest for their environment and the local culture.

Completely restructured in the autumn of 2010, the lodge is positioned right on the sandy beach next to a small tropical forest, home to the red colour monkeys lending their name to the lodge. In front of Red Monkey Lodge is a 2 km long sandbank that stretches out from the beach into the water. About 2 km from the shore is a barrier reef.

The setup consists of seven one-storey bungalows, with a total of nine rooms, with traditional Makuti roofing. There is a restaurant and a bar with sea views. There is also a reading lounge with book exchange, a kiteboarding centre and a beachfront chill-out area with sun beds and umbrellas.

The pathways between the small tropical garden are covered with sand, allowing our guests to live a real barefoot experience. The garden has plants such as aloe vera, lemongrass, papaya, banana and palm trees.
