Facilities

Nestled in the foothills of the Karkloof, amongst indigenous and pine forests, our aim at Rainbow Retreat is to welcome our guests into an unknown environment which lends itself to total relaxation, fun and a home away from home.

The 50-acre smallholding comprises one large main house which sleeps 10 guests sharing and features DStv, a bar, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and pool table. There are also three self-catering cottages; two sleeping six guests and one sleeping two guests. Facilities include a dam stocked with abundant trout bass and blue gill, a tennis court and forest walks with plenty of bird life. Mini conference facilities are also available.

We spent two nights at Rainbow Retreat whilst we were in the area to do the Karkloof Canopy Tour. It was lovely to explore this magnificent part of the Midlands. The accommodation in the cottage was spacious and comfortable. Everything we needed was supplied even a hair dryer and mossie machine!

In the evenings a sleeper couch is made up which sleeps two people and all linen is provided together with bath towels. The lounge, dining room and kitchen are open plan, with a fully equipped kitchen containing a fridge and freezer, stove, microwave, all cutlery and crockery, and barbecue facilities. Features include a patio with outdoor furniture and an open-plan area with a fireplace for those cold winter nights. All fire wood and fire lighters are supplied free of charge. The cottage is situated up on a hill overlooking beautifully manicured lawns, with a trout dam at the foot of the hill and views extending up into the indigenous forest.
