Pleasure to stay there
Neil and Nikki LOVED the stay at Purple Heron and have already decided that it will be there next stopover when holidaying again. They wanted for nothing and nothing was a problem! An absolute pleasure to stay there!

What an experience!!!
The place offered more than one can explain. It is in a perfect and quiet place and just the place for relaxation.
The hosts, Jenny and Paul Marshall made the stay even more enjoyable by their hospitality and good naturedness. I will definitely stay there anytime in future!!

Our "wheelchair friendly" accommodation is really that! No need to worry about access or bathroom usage. Guests with a variety of disabilities have been happily accommodated.

Description
Purple Heron is a new, 4 star luxury guest house, situated right on the river, on The Island in Sedgefield, 20 minutes from Knysna and close to all the wonderful activities offered on the Garden Route. It has 3 large, double, en-suite rooms and 2 extra large, luxury suites with their own lounges which can be used to accommodate children if required. All upstairs rooms open onto sun-decks. The only downstairs room is subtly designed to accommodate disabled or frail guests and has ramp access to the garden. All rooms have TV, mini bars, complimentary hot drinks, electronic safes, hair dryers, percale cotton bedding and luxury towels. Sumptuous breakfasts are served on the verandah or in the breakfast room from where visitors can enjoy views of the river and of the prolific birdlife in the garden. A single and a double canoe are available free of charge for guests to use. Light meals, picnics and barbecues are available on request and special diets (allergy, vegetarian, diabetic, low salt/fat, halaal) can be catered for. Wireless internet access and a laundry service are offered; restaurant, golf and beauty treatment bookings, as well as airport shuttle and other travel arrangements, can be organized. Guided, short or day tours for motor bikers can be arranged - excellent paved roads and beautiful mountain passes offer unbelievable riding. Similarly, keen birders can enjoy early morning walks into local forests and to nearby hides. Children under 12 are accommodated by arrangement only - 50% rate and babies under 2yrs of age are accommodated free of charge(cot available). Visa nad Mastercard credit cards are accepted.

Egret, our only downstairs room, is set up for easy access, and is suitable for wheelchair access. The full ensuite bathroom has a roll in shower and a solid fold down bench and adjustable shower head. There is ramp access to the garden and parking area, and all the public rooms and verandah are on the same level.
