Puku Pan Safari Lodge

Description

Deep in Zambia, on the banks of the Kafue River, there is a game park of over a million acres. It is the second largest park in the world and it is a place where hippos rule the waters, lions rule the land and the fish eagles rule the sky. This is the Kafue National Park.

Some 30 years ago the Kafue River, which is a tributary of the mighty Zambezi, flooded its banks. In the long grass pan that formed, herds of graceful puku came to graze. It was here that Rob Buske, a local farmer, conservationist and honorary ranger chose a beautiful but remote site to build Puku Pan Safari Lodge. Nowadays the lodge is run in a truly Zambian style by Matthews.

Puku Pan Safari Lodge was designed to harmonize with its incredible natural surroundings. Eight individually secluded, thatched cottages blend in with the indigenous trees that line the bank of the river. Inside the spacious rooms are traditionally decorated with colourful ethnic fabrics. Every chalet has an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water. From the verandah, you can gaze out over a magnificent view of the tranquil river. The day's silence is broken only by the sweet song of birds and the snorting of hippos wallowing nearby.
