About Pretoriuskop Rest Camp Kruger National Park SANParks

When the world was still young, some 3500 million years ago, molten rock forced its way through the earth's crust and solidified to form the spectacular granite outcrops where Pretoriuskop Rest Camp is now nestled. The impressive granite dome known as “Shabeni Hill” is not far from the camp, which is found in the southwestern corner of the Kruger National Park. It is immediately apparent to any visitor that Pretoriuskop is unique as brilliant red trees adorn the camp, pre-dating the decision to make exclusive use of indigenous plants in laying out rest camp gardens. Nostalgia prompted an exception to the rule for Pretoriuskop, the Kruger National Park's oldest rest camp, and exotic flowering plants were allowed to stay, enhancing the strong sense of the past that is so pervasive.

Please note the rates displayed are subject to the number of adults as well as children staying, hence we advise guests to request the appropriate tariffs.

We were really disappointed with the grumpy reception staff when we checked in. We had booked for a camp site and were told there weren't any sites available so we had to pay for a hut so as that we had power in our camper.

Just a four and a half hour drive away from Johannesburg, what an ideal setting to recharge one's batteries for city living! The peace of nature, with the comfy lodgings, the beautiful bush and abundance of animals, all on your doorstep. The Sunset Drive is a MUST. I feel revived, and am already planning my next weekend away with me, myself and I.

What a pleasant surprise with our cottage! Very good accommodation with excellent facilities available. The shop variety might be increased. Will definitely come back again!

We found Pretoriuskop a very clean and neat camp. The newly thatched and renovated huts added to the charm of the place.
