Description
This beautiful country home is tucked away in the mountains at the heart of the scenic Panorama Route, only five minutes from the Sabie Village and 40 minutes from the world-famous Kruger National Park. Perched above an old gold mine and part of the original mining village, Porcupine Ridge has been extensively remodelled to create a stylish, informal retreat combining Old World charm and modern comforts.
The friendly ambiance invites you to relax and unwind, surrounded by rambling gardens, abundant bird life and glorious mountain scenery. There are lovely walks on the estate through indigenous bush, grasslands and plantations. Monkeys, duiker, mongoose, bush babies and other small game may be seen. A spectacular waterfall with a deep pool for swimming is a special delight.
Porcupine Ridge has five immaculate en-suite bedrooms, a comfortable guest lounge with satellite TV and fireplace, a spacious dining room and two large, covered verandahs for relaxation and meals. All the bedrooms have seating areas and beverage trays with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and rusks. Hairdryers, clock radios, ceiling fans, heaters, electric blankets and generous bath sheets are provided in all rooms. Quality queen-size or twin beds are dressed with white percale linen and pure silk duvets. Two superior rooms are extra spacious with lovely views, bar fridges, complimentary sherry and chocolates. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with either bath or shower.
Leisurely breakfasts comprise a cold buffet of juices, cereals and yoghurts with homemade seasonal fruit salad, fresh fruits, nuts and seeds and a variety of breads and pastries. This is complemented by a cooked breakfast, a choice of teas and locally grown coffee. Delicious dinners are available on request.
Porcupine Ridge is perfectly placed for easy access to an incredible variety of attractions and activities. Free tourist maps and information are available at the guest house. Sabie is famous for its forests and waterfalls, trout fishing, mountain biking and hiking. Tour the magnificent Panorama Route with beautiful waterfalls, God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and Blyde River Canyon. Golfers will find a variety of courses within an hour's drive.
