Planet Scuba offers 13 private en-suite rooms and a large swimming pool set in a magnificent wooden deck overlooking the town square and the ocean. Wild Fig trees frame your view as you gaze out over the ocean while making your choice from a wealth of exciting activities. The comfortable lounge offers DStv if you need to catch an important match or keep up with your favourite soapie and Internet is available on request to keep you in touch with the wider world. The lodge also has full cell phone coverage. The wooden deck surrounding one of Ponta’s biggest private pools is the perfect place for secluded sun-bathing and the view from the covered dining deck is breathtaking – with the sunrise over the point being exceptionally magnificent.
Planet Scuba offers a full suite of self-catering facilities, including fridges, freezers, gas cookers, barbecue areas, crockery and cutlery, and of course a large beer and cooldrink fridge. Catered packages are also available on request. There’s no better place to enjoy a superb meal or a refreshing cocktail than on our covered wooden deck, and you can also visit the many restaurants and pubs in the area to savour excellent dishes and soak up the atmosphere.
If you’re the adventurous type, Planet Scuba is affiliated to excellent scuba diving, ocean safari, deep-sea fishing, dolphin watching, and kite boarding operations in Ponta do Ouro, and our friendly management team will ensure that your every desire is catered for. If you’re a 4x4 enthusiast, Planet Scuba is the ideal place to prepare for your off-road adventure on the soft sand roads amidst the dense dune forests of the area.
Of course if you’re slightly less energetic, Planet Scuba is also the perfect base from which you can soak up the sun on the deck or on our stunning white beaches, swim in the warm ocean waters, explore the charming market stalls offering hand-made curios and gifts, and even witness the timeless spectacle of a turtle laying her eggs or the hatchlings emerging from the pristine beach sand.
The village centres around the main square, with amenities including a bank with an ATM, a number of excellent restaurants, a bottle store, tackle shop, a small convenience store selling essentials, a chemist, an Internet café, and even a couple of estate agents. The square is constantly frequented by beach-goers, quad-bikers, friendly locals, and visitors on foot and in 4x4s. A little further up the road you’ll find the petrol station, another convenience store and a fascinating little shop where you can watch a man weaving kikois using an old bicycle. You’ll also find Magenta Moon, a charming shop tucked away amidst the trees where you can buy exquisite soaps, gifts, clothing, and artefacts.
For families and for the more adventurous, there’s no better place to experience the magnificence of southern Mozambique than from the comfort and hospitality of Planet Scuba.
