Beautifully situated farmhouse on the road to the Skilpad Reserve with lovely views and fascinating rock formations. Accommodation and food very basic and comfortable, but you have to be satisfied with absolutely no frills.

Seldom does one in life have the privilege of meeting and sharing a short part of your own life with the genuine people of our country. Wholesome food, definitely not cordon bleu, but really good, with a twinkle in Stella’s eye when I put the cumquat in and chewed! The request for home-made soup delivered with aplomb with home-made bread, top class.Oom Cornelius (owner of the farm) who shares the meals and chats around the fire, telling life stories, is a genuine SA...

Thanks to Stella and Ernst for making this a truely remarkable experience. Their knowledge of the area coupled with their wonderful hospitality made this a stay that all of us will remember for a long time to come.

After a full day's travel on the dirt roads in the area and exposure to the unsophisticated homesteads around, we should have perhaps been more aware of what we had booked for. The farmstead is very rustic and basic and it took a little while to realise that we were far from the comforts often taken for granted. We learned the Peter had passed away the week before after a lengthy battle with cancer and Stella and Ernst were running the show. They were very friendly and because the accommodation included dinner (just as well as there's nothing else for miles around)as well as breakfast, the...

The grave of Charles James Darter, a sharpshooter born in Cape Town and part of the British Army. Darter was killed in an ambush in 1902. His grave is located just North of Kamieskroon on the N7, and is popularly referred to as the smallest piece of...

Padlopers, birds, butterflies and blomme Just 17km northwest of Kamieskroon is the Skilpad section of Namaqua National Park. Twitchers and butterfly afficionados love it and it's worth spending a few days here - even in ‘bad years’ the sandy plains...

Lying about 70 km north of Kamieskroon and 15 km southeast of Springbok, Goegap Nature Reserve is a fantastic place to kick off your flower trip. Bearing in mind that the best route to travel for a flower trip is north to south so that you see the...

Spitfire Rock

Spitfire Rock is an excellent location to take interesting photographs. Spectacular “spits” and sprays can be seen as the sea blasts against this rock.
