Beautiful setting,18 August 2008
The stay was only for one night but we were really made to feel welcome. The owner also phoned us to enquire about our arrival time and gave us instructions on how to find the place. Beautiful setting in lovely garden. Will stay there again if in the area.

Deserved its 4 stars.,01 July 2008
Penryn was a lovely place to stay, Jean was warm and welcoming - and very reassuring when I was still in Newcastle after the sun had set (owing to the roadworks on the N11)! She told me I only had another 40 minutes of driving to do - which made the journey seem less awsome. It was easy to find - well marked with an electric sign at the gate - instead of having to peer out for the numbers. The gardens were heavenly and the rooms exceedingly well appointed. Penryn well deserved its 4 st ... more

This was a fine address for a stop over on the way to HluHluwe for us. We enjoyed our stay. Good value for money.

Description
A touch of luxury at a reasonable price!
Penryn is a gracious old home, situated in central Dundee, close to all amenities and easily accessible.
It has been tastefully converted into a charming and comfortable B&B while carefully preserving its essential Victorian ambience.
It is set in a beautiful prize winning garden, with good security and electronically controlled access.
We offer a family flat, sleeping four, which has a TV Lounge and kitchen. This unit can be self-catering or bed and breakfast.
A further three en suite bedrooms are available, each with private entry. All rooms are tastefully decorated and are equipped with a DSTV bouquet, bar fridge, heater, electric blankets and coffee making facilities. All offer an attractive outlook onto a private patio with outdoor seating.
Dundee is the heart of the KZN battlefields district. The first shots of the Anglo-Boer War were fired on the town at the Battle of Talana.
Dundee boasts an excellent historical museum, as does Rorke’s Drift. The town has a picturesque 18-hole golf course and offers squash, tennis, bowls and fishing. For the more adventurous the nearby Buffalo River offers white water rafting and canoeing.
There is also a 4x4 trail for the off road enthusiasts. An hour and a half away is the NPB Ithala Game Reserve which has an abundance of bird life, as well as four of the big five.
