About Paradise Magoo

Paradise Magoo is a great breakaway lodge situated about 35 km north of Xai-Xai in Mozambique. We offer 20 campsites, a restaurant and bar as well as a safe swimming beach. A 4x4 vehicle is necessary to reach the camp, however arrangements can be made if you don’t have a 4x4 vehicle.

Accommodation is available in chalets, built with the influence of the local architectural style and on campsites blended into nature with minimum disturbance to the local fauna and flora. All are within a walking distance from the beach. We do not have electricity; our generator provides lighting to the ablutions, chalets and restaurant.

Paradise Magoo is a coastal holiday destination for families, friends, touring groups and individuals who want to relax in the peaceful nature of Mozambique. We offer a wide and open swimming beach that is peaceful and seldom filled with a lot of people, providing privacy to all holidaymakers. Safe jogging or walking along the shore can be enjoyed for kilometres alongside the undisturbed nature and tranquillity of the ocean. Enjoy fishing from the mussel-invaded reef exposed during low tides and accessible by foot. An opening in the reef allows boats to be taken out into the deep sea.

The restaurant overlooks the beach and ocean, and is a popular meeting place for young and old. We serve delicious dishes such as seafood platters, calamari, hamburgers, steaks and our speciality is pizzas. Our bar has DStv for those wanting to watch their favourite sporting events. Cell phone reception is available at the restaurant that is open seven days a week. A small shop at the restaurant has all the basic groceries, T-shirts, caps, toys and gifts. We sell cold drinks, beer, liquor and ice as well as charcoal, blitz and firewood.

Only two days in Paradise Magoo this time, but so peaceful and relaxing! Great walks in the dunes and fun in the sea in mid winter, what a treat. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, no frills camping experience. Great restaurant too, thank your your warm hospitality.

Beautiful campsite. Don't feel like you are on top of anyone else. Although there are not enough ablutions per block especially for the ladies. The restaurant is very run down which seems to be a direct result of the overall interest taken by the owners. The resort on next door welcomes guests from here and makes them feel right at home. The local staff are very helpful and very friendly. Not a bad place however I would only go back to have a rugged week with my boat and spend as much time on the water as possible.

Awesome campsite, very secure, power points and water (drinkable!) on all sites. Was very happy with the owner's response as we arrived late due to Maputo traffic. Stunning beach and dunes-4x4 is absolutely essential and so too is dropping your tyre pressure! Not quite in Xai-Xai (29kms out of town). 3 Stars but really a 5 star camping experience!

Lovely rustic campsite, clean ablutions with hot water, beautiful beach.

It is a quiet and relative small resort where one can really relax. On the southern side you can walk along an unspoilt beach for hours without seeing any humans, vehicles or buildings. The owners and staff is friendly and accommodating, making it a true family place. The place is about 40 kms from good shops and it is best to stock up before you reach this destination.

Wenela Tidal Pool

Wenela Tidal Pool, two kilometres south of Xai-Xai, is a fascinating natural treasure. The tidal pool has a natural channel that leads underground into the ocean, creating a "blow-hole" effect that is something to be seen.
