A pot pourri of comments re Palmiet Valley,12 February 2007
Staff very friendly and helpful. Setting delightful. Food excellent. Room delightful. (Hairdryer cord not long enough.) Service very good. An telephonic contact facility to a member of staff could have been useful. Pool service an example.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it - as long as the chef stays!!

Description
Palmiet Valley Estate ……The Charm and tranquillity of a bygone age.
Palmiet Valley Estate is in the very heart of the majestic cape Winelands of South Africa. The ninety-six acre estate produces exotic fruits and, of course, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc grapes for our own exclusive wine.
Nested at the foot of the Drakenstein Mountains, we are just thirty minutes from Cape Town, the 'jewel ' of Africa‘s cities.
The estate is surrounded by a wealth of outdoor activities, including championship golf courses - Palmiet Valley is just five minutes from the closest - world class gliding, game and sport fishing, sailing and water sports.
There is also breathtaking hill walking, clay pigeon shooting and riding and, as you would expect, wine tasting for the most discerning of connoisseurs !
No expense has been spared in restoring the traditional historic thatched Manor House – originally build by Dutch settlers in 1692 – to its former glory.
No expense has been spared in selecting the finest antiques for every room to transport our guests back through the centuries.
It goes without saying that each room has its own luxurious bathroom, a comfort not enjoyed by the original owners!
Palmiet Valley offers peace and tranquillity for a maximum of sixteen guests who demand the best things in life.
Our Master Chef takes pride in creating delicious farm-fresh daily menus that are served with pleasure in the 18th century Fine Dining Room, under the cool shade of the Jacaranda or on the Herb Garden Terrace.
Our cellar boasts an extensive selection of the best wines of the region, as well as the fine white wines produced on the estate.
If requested guests can arrive in style by requesting a chauffeur driven airport transfer in the estate‘s own classic 1958 Mercedes Limousine.
The Limousine is also available for our guests to tour in luxury the surrounding delights: from Table Mountain to the Waterfront, through the Wine lands of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschoek, from the mighty breakers on the Atlantic to a picnic in the surrounding mountains.
We are located in the centre of the wine lands. The renowned wine estate Nederburg is our neighbour and another twenty wine cellars open to the public are close by. The biggest wine co-operative in the world, the KWV with its cellars is just a few minutes away.
A few hundred meters behind our vineyards begins the Drakenstein Mountain Reserve, a pleasant mountain side with a vast variety of Protea species, wild olives, aloes as well as rare birds, Baboons and Mountain Buck.
We have worked out more than a dozen day tours, in the wine lands, to the mountains and to the oceans, which are all in one hour distance.
